At Alfea, the fairies have a party with the Specialists from Red Fountain. And the Trix have not missed this opportunity to try again to steal Stella's magic ring. Only Blaze, who has transformed into a fairy for the first time, is able to stop them.
In the meantime, Y/n is getting jealous of Brenda, who seems to be growing fond of Blaze.

"So, as I was saying, today's exercise will be rather difficult."

All of the students were outside by what was known as the Black-Mud Swamp, in the forest between Alfea and Red Fountain. All wore their outdoor uniforms - it was easier to track them that way in case one got lost.

"Professor Palladium!" Francine called with her hand raised. "A keekbug just bit me!"

Blaze and Y/n would later go on to learn that a 'keekbug' was essentially Magix's version of a mosquito.

Palladium, who had sneezed at least a dozen times since they had arrived, answered, "Well, we are in a swamp and it's just a keekbug. It's no big deal."

He would have been cute, with long hair, baby face, and cute upturned nose, if he did not look like a teenager, younger still than the rest of the students. But, as good credentials seemed to be in order, everyone just assumed that elves aged differently from fairies.

"But look where it got me!" She lifted up her shorts a bit flirtatiously. Her face, however, stayed the same as that of an annoyed teenager, not wanting to give herself away. The other students laughed while Palladium backed away from her, stuttering over his words.

"Oh, my! From - well, um...what I meant was...uh..." He tried to recover quickly, looking away from her thigh. "T - to be shorts and, uh, eh...to the point..."

"Poor professor," Blaze whispered to Stella. "They shouldn't give him such a hard time."

"If he were more confident, he'd get more respect."

Once the laughter died down, the professor was able to easily get back on track. "A good fairy should be able to listen to what nature tells us. Today's exercise is designed to put your skills to the test. Now, you've all been put into groups, so we're ready to begin. You have three hours to get out of Black-Mud Swamp and reach the clearing in the middle of Gloomy-Wood Forest, without using magic. Remember..." He put s finger up to his eye. "Listen carefully to the voice of nature, and follow its advice."

"But, professor -"

With a motion of his hands, he disappeared.

Coincidentally, Y/n's group consisted of Blaze, Stella, Flora, Tecna, and Musa. They all went to the edge of the swamp and dived in down to their knees, Stella immediately gagging while Flora tried to find a good grip, although she was careful to keep her hair out of the swamp. Musa and Tecna, on the other hand, seemed completely unbothered, perhaps partly because their hair was too short to get in the mud, a pixie-bob and short pigtails respectively.

Stella tried to pick up her legs. "This place is...ew...totally disgusting!" Her hat, at least, kept her hair back from her face.

Musa quipped up, "Oh, yes, dear. All this mud is so very inconvenient."

"What happened to 'Mud does such wonders for my complexion'?"

Everyone laughed at Stella yelled over them, "Well, something's crawling up my leg!"

"I don't know if you realize it, but we're knee-deep in what I would refer to as a problematic mud puddle." Bubbles popped near Tecna's legs, which was enough for her to raise her hands, a green light beginning to emit from them. "All right, you guys, take cover! I'll handle it."
