Jimin double checked if the door to his room was locked before setting the newly extorted file onto his bed and removing his black leather gloves on top. It was another successful day of retrieving classified information from the Private police, though getting to the folder took a bit more convincing. Stealing the money from one of their headquarters also was impossible this time. Jimin worried that they're getting closer to catching him since their security had tightened.
His room for now was lavished with pretty furniture and a decent looking bed. However it wasn't like he was staying here for long, it was only his hideout until tomorrow. He walked past his bed to the clean bathroom where he stood silently staring at his reflection. It didn't do anything but Jimin wished it would. As he stared at his current self, he couldn't help but wonder what his life would be like if he hadn't become the name Con Red. He wondered if he hadn't had such a strong sense of nationalism if he'd still be here, fighting for what he think is right for his country. He studied his expensive clothes and nicely combed hair. It was a far outcry from his life before and that's the way he was going to keep it. He walked back to his bed and slumped onto it. He took the folder into his hand and started looking through it carefully.
He wished he could do more than just blankly stare at each page. All the text was written with dodgey language that tried to hide the truth but reading through the lines showed a clear picture of what they really do in the private police force. They stole from the poor, created cruel punishments, extorted money etc. all while the government turned a blind eye. This secret force that was allegedly protecting the country couldn't control their greed and the government couldn't have been worse. Jimin flipped through pages of documents describing these horrific acts of taxing people more and calling for the execution of certain innocent civilians.
This all happened without the public knowing. He closed the folder, feeling disgusted and upset. Staring the folder, he stood up walking towards a paper shredder that was neatly tucked away in the very corner of the room. He took a deep breath out as he put the documents into the shredder. They went in as thin rectangles and entered into the clear compartment as four different long long clumps. The papers were no longer legible.
It took a few minutes but after all the papers, including the folder was all torn, Jimin felt a smile on his face. He had deceived them once again and he stopped the corrupt government from taking control this time. But this is not enough. He has to keep winning the fight against them. He had to show what is actually right. This is why he cannot be caught, or else there was no reason for him to have left the Private police in the first place.***
"Interesting to see you lost in thought." Jimin blinked to see Yoongi close up and smiling at him. He always thought he had such a cute smile for a guy. You could always see his gums peeking through and you could see lines form from his eyes that would undoubtedly become deep wrinkles in the future.
Jimin tried smiling back but he could feel that it wasn't as genuine as he wanted it to be. He just hoped the alcohol was working in his favor tonight. If he really wanted to know if Yoongi was onto him, he'd have to play it cool.
He scoffed in his normal attitude, "What do you find so interesting about me thinking?"
"I don't know" Yoongi said, "you always have something to blab about so it's like I never see your mouth shut."
Jimin dramatically rolled his eyes and drank his wine.
"I guess that's my cue to leave then." He only joked but then Yoongi started to make his way out of his seat.
"Oh, I thought you were being serious." He awkwardly trued to sit back down but had already stood up and walked around the chair. Jimin couldn't tell if Yoongi was purposely trying to make sitting down look harder than it should've been.
"That's okay, it's already late." Jimin smiled innocently and started walking out the door. He knew Yoongi actually was trying to find an excuse to leave the bar but what his next move was, he couldn't tell.
Outside was cold as always even though it's already April, it's almost like a never ending winter. There was a sprinkle of rain yet it was hardly noticeable. Jimin threw on a thick coat while Yoongi locked up the place and watched him stiffen up.
"It's a lot colder out here than I thought it'd be." Said Yoongi. "Would've been nice if I actually remembered to bring my overcoat." He in fact was not wearing a coat and shivered as a rather strong breeze passed by. Jimin narrowed his eyes suspiciously but didn't bother to question the situation.
"Would you like my coat? If I'm seeing you again on Monday then you could just bring it then." He spoke with a friendly infliction.
"Oh, did I forget to tell you? I'm not walking home as I would normally."
Jimin scrunched his eyebrows. "Where are you heading at this hour?" He checked his watch out of curiosity and he saw it was almost 2:30am.
"My cousin is visiting and she invited me to her hotel room but it's a bit far from here." Yoongi rubbed his arms. "Would you mind if I took that offer and you gave me a ride?"
Jimin finally realized what he thought was so strange about this interaction. Yoongi had acted strange since leaving the building because he needed evidence from his car and was to invade Jimin's personal life. He of course needed an excuse so his meeting with his so-called cousin was most definitely a hoax.
Jimin now knew Yoongi was onto him. Fear rushed through his body, wondering if he could actually be part of the Private police. He took a step back forgetting he was in the middle of a conversation and tried his best to not show a single thought on his face. He focused on getting back into his confident demeanor.
"Where is the hotel because I don't know about you, but I don't want to end my night with getting caught under the influence."
"I'll talk of directions later in the car, but it's not too far from here." Yoongi continued to shiver. "It's very cold, may I?" He pointed to the passenger seat of the black car.
Jimin quickly tried to remember if he had put anything suspicious away. He hadn't taken any confidential information from the police today so there shouldn't have been anything. So, he reluctantly nodded with the feeling of like he lost a bet. Yoongi briskly walked toward the door and Jimin had to catch up to him to unlock it. The knob turned and clicked and Yoongi hopped in.
Jimin walked around to the other side, keeping a keen eye on the man in his car through the window.
"I didn't expect everything in here to be black as well." Yoongi said as the car exerted a loud grumble.
Jimin gripped the steering wheel and tried not to look like he was searching his car for any possible incriminating evidence.
"Why do you look so nervous?" Yoongi asked.
"I'm just like this after every time I drink. To be quite honest, I don't enjoy driving under the influence too much." Jimin tried smiled and gripped the steering wheel a bit harder.
They drove off and after two minutes or so, Jimin was able to calm down when he realized Yoongi wasn't searching his car and had a conversation like normal. They drove for almost 10 minutes until Yoongi pointed at a tall white building. He parked the car in the parking garage and watched Yoongi as he left.
Jimin was confident that Yoongi was up to something and that this was most likely a hotel Yoongi had just known the route to. He watched as the man quickly ran to the front of the building where a woman stood. Jimin had turned the engine back on and was about to leave when he saw Yoongi and the woman hug and started talking. It was too far to hear them or read their lips but the smiles on their faces said everything.
Jimin drove away confused and conflicted. If this has been a fake meeting, why go all the way to hire someone to pretend to be his cousin? Jimin tried answering this question but all the answers felt plausible and impossible at the same time. However, he was even more stumped on Yoongi's recently strange behavior. Was Yoongi just acting this whole time or did something in his life change to make him act that way? All of this seemed weird and felt too dangerous. It felt as though every night, he was getting closer to getting caught and Yoongi was in the center of this distress. This place wasn't safe for him anymore, he has to go somewhere far. Somewhere far away from here.—
