Im lying on top of my roof, gazing at the stars and thinking about my past. Years ago, my spaceship landed in a town in Forks Washington, on Earth. I was just a baby, and the man who became my adopted father found my ship and me inside. He knew he had to raise and protect me because if the government found me, they could do anything with me. He took me to his house, gave me a name, and the past few years have been great. However, till my 8th birthday, my powers came in. A car was about to hit my dad, and without thinking, I rushed so fast that I got him out of the way. We were both shocked. He wasn't scared of me, but for me, because people weren't ready for me yet. So, we tested my powers. I have super speed, can fly super straight, have heat vision, super breath, and x-ray vision. I was scared, but my dad told me where I came from and showed me the ship I came in. A hologram of my birth mother came out and told me everything I needed to know about the home planet, how it was destroyed, my abilities, and gave me the stone that makes a fortress, a place where I can learn and train whenever I'm ready.
For the next few years, I tried to live a normal life. Well, I helped a few people. When I was 11, I saved my classmates from drowning in the river when the bus crashed off the bridge. The only person who saw me was my friend Angela. She promised she wouldn't tell anyone. My dad was mad, but he was happy that I saved my classmates, and he trusted Angela. She was my only friend. It's kinda hard to get close to people when you have powers. When I turned 16, I was finally ready to seek who I was and train to use my powers to help people. My dad wasn't happy that I was going to skip school for a year, but he understood and sent my school work to my computer so I wouldn't fall behind. Angela was sad that I was leaving, but luckily she had other friends to keep her company. So I flew somewhere nobody could get to. I flew to the deep desert. I placed the stone in the ground, and my new home for the year was growing from the ground. It was amazing. I went in, and there was the hologram of my mother explaining everything to me about my kind, my training. She even made me a suit. It was a red and black suit, lucky with no cape. I'm not really a cape guy. Over the past year, I trained and saved a lot of people from a plane crash, burning buildings, mass shootings, and more.
I'm even on the news. They gave me a name, Superman. The government tried to get me to talk to them. Whenever I'm on the job helping people, I tell them I'm not a threat, and I'm not just going to help one country. I'm here to help everyone. I'm also not going to interfere in any wars or politics. They are not my thing. If people need help, I'll be there. I also let the cops do their job. I don't stop every crime because I'll be doing their job. I only help if it's a super villain and crime that gets out of hand, and they need my help or something big like a big crash. Other than that, I let humans do their job, but I do help firefighters if it gets out of hand or they need my help if I ask. I don't want to make it look like I'm taking their jobs. After the year was up, it was time to go home and start the new school year. It's going to be tough having a normal life and doing hero work at the same time, but I'll manage. And here I am, lying on the roof, waiting for my dad to come home so I can surprise him with my return.
"Miles, you're back!" he said surprised.
"How's it been, pop?" I said.
"It's been good. I'm just happy you're home. It's not been the same since you've been gone. I'm just glad you're finally home," he said.
We walked into the house and found news articles on the wall about my hero work.
"I'm proud of you, Miles. I know it's risky putting these on the wall, and I'm going to move them to my room, but I just wanted to show you how proud I am. You literally rescued a whole plane from crashing. You're going to change the world, and thanks for letting good cops do their job. I'm happy you stopped a few racist cops. I'm happy you're letting the human race solve their problems," he said.
"Ya, I can't just hop in everything. I can't have people depend on me for everything. I can't do everything, but all I can do is do my best and do better," I said.
"Well, let's get something to eat. I'm starving. You want to eat out?" my dad said.
"Sure, pop," I said.
