"Dear chromatic brawlers, we have decided to delete you from the game permanently. Enjoy your last days before you are all killed.
-Sincerely, Starr Park."
...
That was the letter that all and each one of the chromatic brawlers received some days after Charlie's season started.
Some of them didn't want to believe it, some others took it as a joke, and others simply didn't care.
They didn't thought that it was possible their rarity, such a recent one, could be deleted having such a little time of existing. There were 21 of them after all. Why would they delete so many brawlers?
Little did they know that it was all real, and they were, Indeed, living their last days of life.
...
It changed the day the body of a certain old man was found hanging from a tree beside the Snowtell. His body was cold and limp, and his organs stopped working long ago, as someone stabbed him before hanging him with a rope.
Apparently, happening the last night before being found.A lot of people were standing around the now lifeless body of Gale.
No one could explain what happened, as nothing about this made sense. At first some of the workers who found out asked, why is he dead?
If brawlers can't die, then why did he?But the rest of brawlers knew that they were wrong in asking that.
They can die. They surely can.
If they are in a match they can respawn, that's true.
But as long as they aren't, they are just as any other human. Of course they can be killed. The authorities from the park quickly took the body to a different place so the park could open, and the visitors wouldn't notice.
As the corpse was being taken away the brawlers could only wonder what happened, with no answer from the higher-ups.
Though, a few of them already were thinking about the possible answer: the letters.
They said the chromatics would die and that wasn't a secret to anyone, so now that the first chromatic has been found dead, why not believe it?That was at least what was going trough Gray's mind while remembering what happened that morning.
He was now sitting in the filming set, waiting for his mates to finish the recording they were doing, so then he could talk about all of this with them.
He was worried, he won't deny it. But he still tried to hide it, acting as his usual self.
He was kinda surprised at how well Lola seemed to be doing despite the letter and it being possibly true. He was expecting a different reaction from her.
Even yet, he knew he might just be overreacting over things. The fact Gale was gone was something truly horrible and sad, yeah.
But still, it was just one murder. How many of those happen everyday? It was also true none had happened in Starr Park untill today. And he knew thinking of it as something that wasn't the big problem was probably wrong. But he was just trying to convince himself that it was all going to be okay, and that the letters were just a joke that was not funny at all.
The kind of jokes someone like Chester might do, he thought. He sighed, feeling a little less worried after thinking about it a little more, finally convinced that this was just an unfortunate event and that the chromatics will be fine.
- "Gray, darling, could you open a portal for me, please?"
Lola's voice took him out of his thoughts, he didn't noticed the recording had finished. But he quickly regained composure and made a movement with his hand, making a portal appear out of nowhere.
He didn't even bothered asking Lola where she wanted to go in the first place, as he was still thinking about the murder, not being able to think straight due to that.
He shook his head to clear his thoughts, and then sighed again, repeating to himself that everything will be fine.
The authorities will find who did that to Gale and they will catch the killer.
The letters are fake and the chromatic brawlers will be safe.
Everything will be fine.
Right?
