It was their love story
Written by them
For themselves.

"Mama, I want Romeo!" The young child exclaimed, rushing out of his room with a book in hand. He tugged on his mother's clothes, desperately seeking her attention.

"Please, Mama, can I have Romeo?" He pleaded, displaying the book he had discovered in their library - Romeo and Juliet.

His mother chuckled at his adorable enthusiasm, lifting him onto her bed. She delicately adjusted his clothing and looked at her precious little boy, who patiently awaited her response.

"Why don't you want Juliet, my little prince?" she inquired, removing a strand of hair from his forehead and tucking it behind his ear.

"No!" the child pouted, disappointed by his mother's question. His mother couldn't help but laugh, finding his reaction utterly endearing.

"Well, why is that?" she pressed gently.

"I'll be Juliet," he proudly declared.

Aware of her son's desires, the mother let out an exaggerated gasp of surprise before smiling and crouching down to meet his gaze.

"If you want to be Juliet, you need to be patient and wait for your Romeo to come," she advised.

The little boy pouted even deeper, unable to contain his excitement for his Romeo's arrival. "Why can't mom just give him to me?" he whined.

His mother couldn't help but laugh at her son's adorable impatience.

Before their conversation could continue, an intimidating man entered the room. The little boy felt so scared by the intimidating presence of the person that he sought shelter behind his mother and held on tightly to her clothes.

"Why is he here in this place?" He stared at the boy with a displeased gaze.

"He's your son! Why can't he be here?!" His mother yelled as he cowered behind her.

Tears streamed down his face, wetting the book he held. It hurt him to see his parents fight, especially knowing he was the cause. He held his hand over his mouth to stop the sobs from escaping.

"I don't want to keep explaining. I don't want him around me. Stop calling this disgusting creature my child," the man said as he left the room without a glance at his son, who silently sobbed.

The little boy didn't understand the complex words but had always known his father didn't like him.

His mother held his hand, kissing it gently, wiping his tears, feeling heartbroken for her son.

If only she could ease his pain, she would have done it long ago.

She kissed his little hands again, hugging him tightly, whispering reassurances.
