Intro
My name is Kanji Tsukio. I have semi-long curly brown hair that goes down to my brown eyes. If my hair was straight (Which I wish it was) it would go down just below my mouth, but it just bounces right back up. I have square thick glasses. I'm about a little over 6ft, I don't go to the doc much so I don’t know. I would say I'm skinny. You could call me shy but I just don't want to put up with the annoying world around me. I am an orphan, I don't pay attention to the others because I'm always in my room sleeping (I do a lot of that) or doing stuff to pass the time like reading, computer, ect. Hinata Kogome helps out at the orphanage taking care of the little ones. I think she's the Mistress's niece but I'm not sure. She tries to help the older kids around her age that have disabilities. And unfortunately that includes me. She tries to start a conversation every day but it always fails with no progress on helping. What is there to help? I'm fine. I'm not normal but I don't have a disability. When school came back up we found out that we were in the same classes.
History is probably my least favorite class but I feel the need that you might want to know about it. History that is. The year now is 2465. Near the 2060s, people claimed to be able to reach into their inner mind. They would reach out and their forearm would disappear as it moved outward. A couple years after that, the people were able to feel a human form when they reached into it. Not long after that people started to pull them out. These people were called doubutsus. A doubutsu would be able to go back into the inner mind whenever they pleased. They had abnormal abilities so the people that had no doubutsus were uneasy around them and a law passed for people who had them would not be able to pull them out unless they were in a certain city. A couple years later they found a way to find the holders even though the holders didn’t know they were holders. Since then the law was made that every person who had a doubutsu would have to move to these cities without consent. I'm going to stop talking about the past and tell you about the present...
Chapter 1
I woke up feeling like crap. (Like always) I rolled onto my back and stared at the empty bunk above me. Waiting for the knock on the door. I looked to my right at my alarm clock on my dresser. It was 6:00am.
Knock. Knock.
There it was.
Kogome opened the door too my room. "You up?" She asked as she stepped into the room.
"Yes, I always am." I said, still looking at the clock. Watching the digital numbers change to 6:01. The alarm blared. "Did you set my alarm?"
"You can never be tpo careful." She said with a smile. "I made sure the bathroom on this floor was empty so you could have a little peace." She looked around the room. “Is that the Mp64 I took from you?
"Why does she even care" I thought. "I'll be out in a minute."
"Ok, I'll see you at school." She closed the door behind her.
I stepped out of bed. I had clothes on because If I didn't go to bed with them on I wouldn't want to get up. It would be too cold. It still is too cold with the clothes on. I stood and grabbed my glasses from next to my alarm clock. I hit the off button on the alarm, then went over to my desk chair and grabbed my jacket off the back. I picked up my books off the desk and went to my bag to put them in. My history book fell off the top, I quickly went to grab it but I only grabbed the front cover and the pages burst throughout the room as the binding broke. (Shows how much I love history) I threw the empty case on my bed and put the rest of my books in my bag. It will give me something to do later.
I got the rest of my things ready and before I left the room, I pulled out my Mp64 and put in the head phones. I hit play as the loud high pitch ring flowed throughout my mind. It lets me block out the annoying people that make up this world. (Don't tell Kogome I said that) A chill went through my body. That always happens when I listen to it. I always wondered why. I opened the door to the hall and there was the usual sight. Kids of many ages running from room to room, throwing stuff to each other like deodorant and clothes. Clothes on the floor. A cluster of little ones ran past me they were naked and their mouths were hanging open. They were probably yelling at the top of their lungs. Shortly after, Kogome ran after them with clothes in one hand and the other extended toward the little ones. I walked into the hall and followed it down to the bathroom. It was empty like Kogome had said. "How does she keep them out until I get here?" I thought as I brushed my teeth. I already took a shower last night so I don't have to worry about that. I went back out into the hall and headed to the stairs. I ducked as a phone came from behind me and shattered into pieces on the wall to my front. For some reason, I can sense things at random but only if it will harm me. I don't know why.
