Nina closed her book and got up from the couch and checked her phone. She had sent Luna a message, but she hadn't answered. It wasn't weird, Luna could have easily either forgotten the message or lost her phone. She was Luna for a reason.

Nina walked to the kitchen and grabbed a glass of juice out of the fridge. Mora had some sort of a work event and Mom was on the phone with some legal people, which was also probably gonna take a while. She was probably gonna be on her own for the evening...

That wasn't that bad, boring maybe, but she'd survive it. There were few TV shows she had wished to rewatch...

Her phone lit up. She raised it up and saw, to her delight, that it was Gastón.

"Hey." Nina leaned onto the wall smiling as she picked up the call.

"Hi." Gastón's voice came from the other end. "You need to come here."

Maybe tonight wouldn't need to be so boring after all.

"Should I ask why?" Goodness, she still sometimes surprised herself with the flirty tone he got out of her. The 15-year-old herself who was wistfully pining after the school's unattainable popular guy would absolutely faint if she knew the reason she was speaking that way. "Or do I know the answer?"

"You definitely don't know." Nina frowned as Gastón didn't pick on her tone.

"What are you talking about?"

"Luna's parents just got arrested."

"What?" Her eyes widened. "How? Why?"

"I don't know." Gastón continued, "but that's what happened, and she needs you. I'll come pick you up."

"Okay..." Nina stared at the wall before trying to snap her focus back on, "Wait, I'll ask if Mom can drive me first. It would be faster."

"Okay."

"Mom," Nina took the phone off her ear without canceling the call and pushed the door open to the room where Mom usually worked. Ana had thankfully gotten off whatever call she had been taking. "Can you drive me to Gastón's?"

"Nina, it is almost six pm." Ana looked at her with a somewhat disapproving look on her face. "And weren't you just there yesterday?"

"So what?" Nina didn't understand the sudden reluctance of her mother. "How does either of those have to do with anything? You didn't answer me."

"Nina, look, I haven't been saying anything, but don't think that I am completely oblivious. I know that you're close, but also young, so you really should maybe think how fast you want to take this..."

"For goodness sake." Nina sighed, "Mom, this is not a time for a chastity speech. It is way too late for that. Luna's parents have gotten arrested, and she needs me."

"What?" Ana's expression changed, "What do you mean? Did they...?"

"No," Nina shook her head. Internally she did realize that Gastón had not said that it hadn't been his parents who had called the police, but they surely would never do that. "I don't know why it happened, but it did. So, are you gonna drive me or not, or is Gastón going to come and get me? I'm going either way."

"Yes, of course." Ana got up from her chair, "I'll come too. I want to talk to Isla and Marco."

"Good." Nina nodded and put the phone back onto her ear, "We're coming."

"Okay," Gastón's voice came from the other end. "Text me the license plate. I can punch it in, so you don't need to wait at the gate."
