I sat with Christina in the dining hall. Somehow my eyes were trying too find Tobias . It was the last day next week new initiates will arrive and I might be the one too training them.
"So, Will what will you choose today"
"Ummm I Don't know honestly I think I want too take part in the administration along with Christina and what about you?"
"Faction ambassador and Trainer"
He nodded with a smile on his face he looked tense he didn't talk much at the breakfast.
Max The head of Dauntless Trainers along with Eric and Tobias standing on one of the bridges over the Faction Chasm. He begins a speech and I zone out until I hear him say
"So as I am retiring Eric is the new head and Four will be Eric's replacement."

The announcement about Eric and Tobias' new roles hangs in the air, heavy with unspoken tension. You catch Christina's eye across the table, a flicker of concern mirroring your own.

"Did you see the look on Four's face?" she whispers, her voice barely audible above the clatter of cutlery.

You shake your head, unable to articulate the knot of unease twisting in your stomach. Eric as head trainer, with Tobias as his second-in-command? It's a recipe for disaster, you fear.

Suddenly, a booming voice cuts through the chatter. "Alright, maggots!" Eric slams his fist on the table, silencing the hall instantly. "Gather around, I've got something to say."

You exchange a nervous glance with Christina as Eric launches into a self-congratulatory speech about his new position, peppered with veiled jabs at Max's leadership and thinly veiled threats towards the initiates. His words drip with aggression, his gaze lingering on Tobias with a possessive glint.

Tobias stands ramrod straight, his face impassive, but you sense the storm brewing beneath the surface. You know he despises Eric's methods, and you can only imagine the internal conflict he must be facing.

As Eric finishes his speech, the hall erupts in forced applause. You clap along, but your heart isn't in it. The future of Dauntless under Eric's leadership suddenly seems bleak. Eric call's each initiates name so the can announce what job they want.
TRIS!
"Trainer and Faction ambassador" I say in a loud and proud voice.
"As Tris finished 1rst in the Training She is our new Trainer" Eric said this with a smirk on his face I didn't trust him I knew he would never give me job so easily something is wrong.

Initiates clap, cheers echoing off the cavern walls. Yet, your gaze remains fixed on Tobias. His jaw clenches, eyes briefly flickering to yours before hardening into an emotionless mask. He claps, but the sound is hollow, a mere formality. Concern gnaws at you, a cold stone settling in your gut.

Eric's grin widens, a predator eyeing his prey. He calls out names, assigning roles with a flourish. Each initiate steps forward, their faces etched with hope, fear, or a mix of both.

Then, your name rings through the hall: "Tris!"

You stand, voice firm despite the tremor in your limbs. "Trainer and Faction Ambassador."

Silence descends. Eric's smirk morphs into a surprised scowl. "Interesting choice, Tris," he drawls, his voice dripping with something akin to...admiration? It chills you to the bone. "But surely you understand, the new Trainer position requires someone...experienced."

His words hang heavy, laced with a hidden threat. You know he's testing you, probing for weakness. You meet his gaze unflinchingly. "My performance in Dauntless speaks for itself," you reply, your voice steady. "And I believe in leadership by example, not fear."

A ripple of murmurs dances through the hall. Some faces show approval, others apprehension. Eric's smile returns, but this time it's laced with something darker, a challenge. "Very well, Tris," he says, his voice low and dangerous. "Prove yourself worthy. Or face the consequences."

The weight of his words settles on your shoulders. You've accepted the challenge, but the victory dance is far from over. Eric's offer reeks of manipulation, a trap disguised as opportunity. You've become a target, and navigating this new reality will demand all your cunning and courage. As you look around the hall, the cheers begin again, but they sound distant, muffled by the storm brewing within you. The game has just begun, and the stakes are higher than ever.
