The evening was cold, cold but not too cold. Cold as in a spring breeze, perhaps a night in fall. The trees slightly swayed in the wind, and the mansion Naomi Evergreen was in certainly looked..ominous compared to the neighborhood. A rich neighborhood; nonetheless; so not ominous in the size of the mansion. Ominous as in..haunted. Perhaps, spooky. Scary. The kind of ominous as in..something just isn't right. The mansion was brick, mostly brick, however the roof and doorframes as well as the windowsills were black. However, the curtains to Naomi's room were open, revealing an incredibly aesthetic room. The bedsheets were pink, and so were the walls. From outside the home, you couldn't exactly see the precise details of the room, however it still made everything seem less ominous.

Naomi Evergreen was pacing around, preparing for her trip to Starlight, the magic village for all things fantastical. Her outfit was well put together, like someone had spent many hours looking for the perfect set of clothing.
"Naomi! Time to go!" An airy, high pitched voice called from the first floor.
Naomi sighed, grabbing her purse and opening the door, walking down the stairs twice since her room was on the third floor. A woman stood at the double doors at the front, wearing a black dress. "Well, we should get going. Term starts in five days, after all! You have been studying well with the supplies I've provided, however, so I'm sure you'll do great, sweetheart."
Naomi cringed at the nickname. "Thanks, mother." She put on a pink sweater and white elbow-high gloves, following her mother out the door. Her mother entered a black car and Naomi entered the passenger seat. She looked at the ominous house, however it didn't put an effect on her. The black gates at the front opened with a familiar squeak, and the car bounced as it exited the driveway.
Naomi looked at what she knew she would be abandoning for the first time, she was a second year technically however she had been attending another magic school back in England where she was born. However, now they were in the states, so she had to transfer to Featherhorn High. She liked magic as a premise, but she knew the magical world was dangerous. Dragons, wizards that used their abilities for evil, spiders, and more creatures were certainly terrifying. However, she knew that Handling Magical Threats would equip her for any dangerous situation.
Suddenly, the world around her looked different—flying griffins flew overhead, birds squawked at soon-to-be second years that were transforming them. She exited the car as elegantly as she could, her heels clicking on the cobblestone parking lot. As she entered the magical village through the gate, things looked much more.. earthy. The road was now dirt, and the forest surrounded the cottage core village.
