The car turned into a long driveway leading up to a large house. The front was mostly stone and the garage was huge also. There was an over hang connecting the garage and house that I could see through to their backyard. Wow. Jessica's backyard was at least the size of a football field. No doubt it was even bigger.
"Thanks you for taking me bowling." Jessica smiled at my mom.
"Oh no problem sweetie!" my mother squeaked.
"See ya Jessica!" I called as she was shutting the car door.
she waved from the outside of the door.
She was so nice! And not at all a serial killer! She was everything but what I was dreading. Her personality matches her looks for some odd reason. I'm not sure if it was the glasses, or the hair, or maybe her whole everything. She was hilarious and entertaining, and we had a lot in common. She likes to read and I like to read. She plays softball and I play softball. Oh and she LOVES One Direction. We don't have that in common but she made it known enough that I couldn't possibly ever forget it.
We started to pull out of the drive way when what looks to be her mother pokes her head out the door.
"Jessica your going to be late for swim practice get inside!"
I noticed Jessica's whole body tense up and she stopped in her tracks. She hesitated to start walking again but then broke into a jog. I brushed it out of my mind and turned on the radio.
"that's what makes you beautiful oh oh oh, that's what makes you beautiful."
Damn Jessica just missed it.

It's 3 days after the bowling alley when my moms walks into to kitchen holding her phone.
"Mrs.Roberts invited you to the pool with Jessica tomorrow. I can take you around noon." My mom informs me.
I just about swallowed my cereal whole. The pool? Ugh I couldn't, that was the week I was on my period. I told my mom and she said she would take a rain check for Friday. Today was Tuesday. I felt bad for having to re-schedule something that I was invited to do but it's what had to be done.
It's finally Friday... but I'm still on my period. I thought it would be over now! I hated this, I hated this, I hated this. I was only in 6th grade and it was my first summer having my period. I'm not use to it getting in the way so much.
"Why does it have to ruin e-everything?" I sniffles into my moms arms.
"Shhh it's okay we can re-schedule again. She will understand."
A rush of terror spread through me.
"Wait you told Jessica?" I asked in a panic.
"No I told her mother. What's the big deal if Jessica knows? I'm sure it's happened to her before too." my mom stroked my arm sympathetically.
There was always something about other people knowing my personal life that I didn't like. I didn't care who it was but the feeling of someone else knowing something about me that wouldn't be shared to the world was sickening.
Okay it was Sunday. And this time I was going to the pool. I was worried that Jessica's mom had told her and she would be weirded out by it or something. Or maybe it would be awkward now. I know I shouldn't think of that because all girls have this problem. I couldn't escape the thought of it though. I would try to push it out of my mind and think about something else, but the harder I tried to think of something else the more I thought of the reason I was trying so hard. A deep anxious feeling was in the pit of my stomach and it made me feel hallow. So empty I could feel the trembling nerves within my body as if that was the only thing there. But I had to move on from that feeling and suck it up.
I arrived at the enormous house again.
I could see Mrs.Roberts start to walk out from the house, Jessica following behind her. My mom rolled down her window to talk. But I hated being there while my mom talked with parents. I never know what she's going to randomly bring up about me. Usually something embarrassing. So I got out of the car and tossed my draw string bag onto my back.
"Bye, love you." I said to my mom as Jessica and I shuffled away from the chatting adults.
"Hey I still need to get my bathing suit on so let's go inside." She said to me.
I followed behind her up the stone steps in the front of her house. we walked down a hall way and she pointed to a room to the left.
"That's the kitchen and right in there in the living room."
The two rooms were connected. We walked some more to a set of stairs. On the side of the stairs was a black piano. We scurried up the stairs and into another hallway. She pointed out both of her brothers rooms and her parents room, along with the bath room and finally she lead me into her bedroom.
"Ta Daaa." She sang as I walked into the pink and purple colored room.
"Welcome to my humble home. you can set your bag down there and I will be right back." She said as she grabbed her bathing suit off her brown dresser and walked out of the room. I could see her walk into her bathroom and close the door. I set down my bag on the floor where she told me to. I peered around the room I noticed a lot of books, just as she had said. Her room was neat besides one desk in the corner of the room. It had papers and notebooks scattered everywhere. On the wall to the left of her bed was at least 8 One direction posters hanging up. A heart was drawn around the one with a lot of hair. I'm guessing he is her favorite.
"Ok you ready?" Jessica said as she walked in and startled me.
"Uh yeah. Is he your favorite?" I asked pointing to the guy on the poster.
"Ahhh yeah. Harry Styles." she said with a sigh and her eyes lighting up with pure passion. geez this girl really does love this band. Well we all have our different tastes.
So we walked out of her room and down the stairs,(which were steeper than most stairs I have been on). Her mom was standing by the counter in the kitchen.
"You girls ready?" She asks glancing between Jessica and I.
We both look at each other and then back at her mom and nod. We all tracked into the garage and climbed into the back seat of the tan mini van. We buckled and then we were off to the pool.
