"This is an employees and drivers restricted area."
A middle aged man in his FIA uniform strictly informs me as I was trying to pass thru the gate and immediately reacts by calling for security. Before I managed to get words out of my mouth, someone else gets me out of the hypothetical grip the worker had on me.
"She's with me."
Jenson Button, clears up the misunderstanding before he finally hands me my ID card and pass that would've avoided this situation.
"Would've been great to receive this before my race day, but better late than never."
My new boss scoffs at my comment as I place the item in my goyard bag and he starts to lead us towards our destination.
"Great to see you too, Lopez. Now cut out the sarcasm and get to work. Go and get ready to make your debut. I expect nothing but the best from you."
He pats me on my back as a goodbye after he lead me to my new office, Porsche VW Racing garage. It was crowed with the engineering and pr crew as well as a few journalists trying to get a glips of anything from the newest formula 1 team.
As soon as I was seen making my entrance, multiple cameras point at me. Luckily my new assistant quickly pulls me away from the spotlight and towards where I can get changed.
"Welcome to the first Grand prix of 2024. Feels great to be back on the track, especially when we're kicking things off in Silverstone."
The commentary's voice caught my attention as I was pick up my helmet. Everything was going twice as fast than usual. This was a debut for Porsche in the Formula 1 world, however the majority of the team already had some sort of experience. I was the main rookie in the spotlight, carrying the weight of everyone and representing Porsche on my shoulders.
"After several media outbursts we finally reached the day we are truely introduced to our newest team. This year, Porsche VW Racing is being introduced as the newest team on the grid. After his senior advisor role for Williams racing, Jenson Button is now the principal of the new team. We're all excited to see their performance as well as their drivers, which should be highlighted as one of their drivers is the female rookie Erina Scott."
Shivers are sent down my spine as David Croft mentions my name. I finally get all my gear on and take a deep breath before putting on my helmet and walking towards my precious car.
"The news have had us all on the edge of our seats as soon as it hit the media. Having Jenson back this way is truly great and his two drivers are the Argentinian Erina Scott Lopez and Spanish Ferran Torres. Both very young rookies which seems very risky with the lack of experience, but I guess likewise their president, Porsche are risk takers."
