HOW I GOT A FREE LIFT
as she got of the plane stephanie told her they'd experience some harsh turbulence. stephanie was shocked that she hadn't woken up from it as it was so bad. silva stayed silent the whole conversation, nervously glancing around as he did so."so what now!?" verena asked as they waited for their bags. a few colourful ones passed them by.
"well we need to get to long island." he spoke. "once we get to long island i have someone who's going to pick us up and take us to camp. we just need to get there." he spoke spotting the suitcases and lunging at them, struggling to pull them out. verena helped him whilst stephanie just stared with a questionable glance.
"so how are we going to get to long island?" Steph muttered. "we have no money." steph lied a little, verena of course had money but stephanie knew she didn't want to use it, she wanted to keep it for emergencies or for a house.
this answer caused silva to go on a spiral of ideas, each one worse from the previous. stephanie ended up gagging from half of them and verena made sure to call out the unsafe ones. verena finally had a lightbulb moment when she saw the two old ladies struggling to get their bags off the turner.
"do you need some help?" she said politely as she rushed over, the others in tow. the ladies simply nodded letting her get the bags. verena asked them if they wanted her to take them to their care and they very much loved the idea.
stephanie huffed and moaned as it took them fifteen minutes to get to their car, her having to take verenas suitcase as well as her own. the car was parked on a desolate road because apparently they didn't want to pay for parking, that was fair enough.
verena lugged their things into the car smiling at them with all the innocence she could muster. "where are you off too?" she asked the ladies. one of them patted her on the shoulder with a cackle. "long island dear"
"oh really that's where we're headed!" silva said perking up. "we were going to get a cab" he spoke with a hint of disappointment.
the ladies obviously felt bad as one of them swatted her hand and insisted they come along on the drive. saying 'no point in not coming with us when we're already going there. three seats in the back plenty of room'."
they obviously complied, as verena wanted this all along. however they were truly grateful. stephanie gave verena a knowing smirk as the car sped off towards long island.
the ladies drove extremely quickly for their age. having definitely been over seventy, verena wondered how they didn't have whiplash. it had been about ten minutes until the ladies pulled up for gas.
