Amiya awoke with a sudden jolt. She didn't even remember falling asleep, but here she was, apparently, face-down in a pile of paperwork. How long have I been asleep the young Cautus rubbed the sleep from her eyes and checked a nearby screen for the time. Oh, the work day is almost done... Rhodes Island's young leader shuffled through the papers on realizing how long she had been asleep. No! No! No!! NO!!!
"How could I be so careless and fall asleep like that!?" she berated herself and reorganized the documents to hopefully complete them in time, thankfully grabbing a few she had already finished. "At this rate, I'll never get these... done?" All of the papers she flipped through were completed. Did I...? Did I already finish and just forgot? On closer inspection however, she noticed that the handwriting differed from her own. She shot up to sift through more of the papers when a sudden chill hit her. Unbeknownst to her until now, a coat had been gently draped over her shoulders. "Is this...? This is Doctor's." Amiya's ears began to twitch when the sound of something being poured hit them followed shortly by the smell of roasted coffee beans.
The Doctor entered her office from a side-room holding two mugs. "Ah, good evening, Amiya," the Doctor greeted her. "Did you rest well?"
"Doctor! Did you complete my paperwork?" she asked and accepted the mug he handed to her.
Her friend shrugged. "I was already finished with my own paperwork, so I thought I would help you with yours. You've already done so much for me and Rhodes Island, this was the least I could do."
"Doctor, you shouldn't overwork yourself like that," Amiya furrowed her brow. "I appreciate your help, but I don't want you to add unnecessary stress on yourself for my sake."
"Eh, it wasn't really stressful," he dismissed her concerns and put a hand in his pocket before gesturing with the mug, which Amiya could now see only had hot water instead of coffee. "Besides, that's what THIS is for." Amiya watched in horror as her friend pulled out a packet of uncooked ramen, bit off a chunk, and washed it down with a swig of boiling water.
"DOCTOR!! NOOO!!!" she cried after his second bite. Savage burst into her office, hammer in one hand and a tray in the other.
"WHAT HAPPENED!?!?" she demanded. Her expression softened on catching sight and she tilted her head. She pouted and said with a sad tone, "Ahh. Doctor. I told you I would make enough for the three of us! Why are you eating right now?"
"You can't be serious, Savage!" Amiya exclaimed.
"Of course I am, Amiya!" Savage shot. "I worked hard to make enough mushroom pies for all of us!"
"I'm sorry, Savage," apologized the Doctor, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. "This was just a little snack before dinner. Would you like some?"
Savage pondered for a moment and Amiya yelled, "Is this really something you have to think over!?"
Their mutual friend snapped her fingers and out of the thought process entirely. She nodded and admitted, "You're right, Amiya, I SHOULDN'T have to think about this..."
Rhodes Island's leader breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you..."
"I would absolutely like some, Doctor!"
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!!!" Although she didn't appreciate them laughing at her expense, Amiya did appreciate being able to spend time with the Doctor and Savage. Her fellow Cautus even admitted that she'd missed spending time with both of them. There have always been troubles and paperwork she thought But times like this... I've already lost Doctor once... Amiya allowed herself a smile and happily continued sharing dinner with them.
