As Seth got off his bed, and sat in a chair,
he activated his HaloLink, a chip in his brain that allows him to access the wide web.
Even though earth was in a state of great technological achievements, there were those who still couldn't meet ends meet, but everyone had a HaloLink.
Seth began to surf the web for new perks. While not having a perk himself he was always interested in them. "It's almost my 16th birthday." Seth said to himself.
"At the age of 16 everyone would receive a perk, and their very own story, with both being factors in deciding if someone was strong. While perks would be random, things like genes, parents, and environment played a factor in the development of a perk." Seth said as if talking to someone that was present.
"Stories on another hand were vastly different as each person has their own unique one. From providing protection, support, strength, and anything else in between." Seth said alone in his thoughts. "Stories are a physical manifestation of one's soul and their memories."Seth stated out loud. "For example if you like to kill bugs you may have the story of bug killer, and you might get a boost when fighting bug type monsters.
If a story was strong enough it could even change the land around it making it into the memory itself, with the outcome almost always already decided by the story." Seth said, as he proceeded to get up, and get ready for school.
