"I can't break it."
"What kind of deal?" Kaito asks.
"I can't tell you that either," Sayaka says.
Kaito is frustrated and confused.
"I just want to help you," he says.
"You can't," Sayaka says.
"Please, just let me try," Kaito says.
"It's too late," Sayaka says.
"There's nothing you can do."
"What can I do, then?" Kaito asks.
"You can live your life," Sayaka says.
"Don't give up."
"Promise me that," Sayaka says.
"I promise," Kaito says.
"Goodbye, Kaito," Sayaka says.
"Don't forget me."
"I won't," Kaito says.
"I love you."
Sayaka's body fades away, and Kaito is left alone in the darkness.
The next day, Kaito goes to school.
He is distracted and quiet, and he doesn't pay attention in class.
At lunch, his friends ask him what's wrong.
Kaito tells them about his ability and about his dreams.
His friends are shocked and worried.
They ask him if he's okay, and he tells them he will be.
"Just promise me one thing," Kaito says. "If something happens to me, don't give up. Don't stop trying to find the truth."
"We promise," his friends say.
After school, Kaito goes home and tries to relax.
He watches TV and reads a book, but he can't stop thinking about Sayaka.
He can't stop thinking about what she said.
He wonders what she meant by her deal and what it has to do with her death.
He wonders if he can find out more about her death.
He goes into his room and closes the door.
He focuses on his ability, and he tries to stop time.
The room spins, and Kaito opens his eyes.
To his surprise, the room is still and silent.
He is in the dark hallway again, and he sees Sayaka's body lying on the floor.
Sayaka opens her eyes and looks at him.
"Hello, Kaito," she says.
"How did you know it was me?" Kaito asks.
"I felt you," Sayaka says.
"Felt me?" Kaito asks.
"Your ability," Sayaka says. "I felt it when you stopped time."
"Do you have an ability too?" Kaito asks.
"No," Sayaka says.
"How did you know about my ability?" Kaito asks.
"You told me," Sayaka says.
Kaito is shocked.
"How could I tell you if we haven't met before?" Kaito asks.
