Chapter one

I'm standing here in the spotlight. I can't believe I'm actually here. On the X-factor UK. 

 My heart’s racing, my legs are shaking. 

While the audience tries to calm down and prepares for another outstanding show, I have multiple flash backs of the past.

*Flash Back*

(Science Class)

It was just a regular science class when suddenly I came up with the most brilliant idea ever. I turned around, tapping one of my best friend Sophie on the shoulder. 

"Do you think I have a good voice?" I asked curiously. 

She shot me back a confused look and replied. "Your voice is amazayn!!!"

I quickly looked away as my locks curtained around me, attempting to cover my pink face. "Do you really think so?" I shyly questioned. 

"I think you have the most special unique voice, I have ever heard. You are gifted Shannon, you truly are." Sophie confidently told me. 

A small smile curved onto my lips as I shared out one of my biggest dreams to her. “Hey, I was thinking if I should audition out for Xfactor.” Sophie quickly turned to face me, long chocolate curls whipping my face. "So Shannon? We're talking big here! What are you going to sing then?" 

I unknowingly scrunched my eyebrows while the creases on my head formed. Ummm?...  What’s my favorite song now? No wait. What am I good at singing? Wait am I even good? Hold on. No way am I going to si-

“OMG SING THE LIGHT BEHIND YOUR EYESSSSS.” She screamed at me. I quickly squeezed my ears with my palms, trying to block out most of the sound coming from her mouth. 

Hmm?

The lights behind your eyes?

Not a bad song, I thought.

*End of Flash Back*

I smiled back at the audience, successfully gaining their attention. Everyone took their seats and stared at me intently as I kept shifting from side to side. I may sound like one of those super shy goody good good innocent teenagers, but trust me. 

2 words and there, I'm not. So fortunately for me, I don't get stage fright at all. 

"Go Shannon!" I heard my best friend Sophie call out to me on stage. I quickly smiled at her, as my cheeks tinted colour. That girl could embarrass me whether she tried or not.

I cleared my throat as I saw a few heads snap towards my direction.  "Hey, I'm Shannon and I'm going to be singing The Lights Behind Your Eyes. Oh and thanks Zayn for inspiring me! Without you I wouldn’t be here in the first place.... I love you.” By the time I finished my mini speech, most of the audience were tilting their heads loudly whispering "Awwwww."

Before I knew it my cheeks started heating up. I nervously glanced away, hoping to block everyone out. By the way, what sucks being me is that I blush extremely easily. So there's no way I could hide my face, without making it obvious.

I didn't want to make things any worst, so I quickly turned my head to the side nodding as the intro music blasted through the multiple speakers.

I opened my mouth

Lifted my chin 

As I let my voice take over me.

The words from the song kept flowing out of my mouth.

So long to all of my friends

Everyone of them met tragic ends

With every passing day 

I’d be lying if I didn’t say

That I miss them all tonight

And if they only knew what I would say

I let a few tears escape my eyes as I sang the last word long, closing the Xfactor performance.

By now the audience were crazy. 

Some were clapping, screaming, crying, cheering, doing all sorts of stuff showing there appreciation towards me. Maybe I could be the next big thing, I smiled at my thought. All three of the judges winked in my direction as they continued to clap along with the audience. I gripped both sides of my polka dot dress while curtseying, hoping to get outstanding results from all three of the judges.  

I never felt so alive...
