The Unknown Sainz daughter

The News

(Lando POV) 

It had been a few weeks since I meet Valentina and got to know her more and more, but today was raining so we just spent on the couch watching a movie and snacking, mostly her but Max and I had a bit too. It felt nice to just be normal even if it was just for an evening. I look down at my lap and see the mess of brown hair and a face of an angel sleeping peacefully. I run my hand through her hair as I think back to the news she got during her first appointment, where she got told she had to be on complete bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy. It hurts my heart to see her being made to stay inside and just sleeping, but I am glad that so far her and the baby are doing well and getting more and more healthy as time passes. RIght now she just glows and has gained almost 15 pounds, while still tiny she doesn't look deathly thin anymore. I pull the blanket over her more so she doesn't get cold, I look up at Max and ask,

"What are we going to do for the double header this weekend? She can't come, and I wouldn't want to ask her to go that out of her comfort zone even if she could. But I don't want to leave her alone for that long either."

He sighs and runs an hand through his hair and I could see he felt the same way I did about it all. He looks down at her and his eyes soften,

"I have no idea, I have been thinking about that too. The only idea I have is for Jess to stay with her but we need a cover story for her to not come. But everyone on the team knows she works through anything, maybe if her son was sick she might stay home but I don't know if I could ask her to do that."

I nod as I think about it, and it seems like that would be our best bet seeing as no one else knew about her in our lives. I lean my head back against the couch and close my eyes,

"That might be our only option right now, unless you want to trust her with someone that she doesn't know and have to tell someone else."

He shakes his head immediately and pulls out his phone as he carefully moves Valentina's leggs off his lap to stand up,

"No way am I willing to risk it and put her through all of the stress. I'll go call Jess right now to ask if she can do this."

I nod and gently cradle the woman on my lap and pick her up as Max dails Jass, tilting my head to her room when he looks at me causing him to nod in understanding. I walk down the hall to the bedrooms and turn into hers, softly laying her down and covering her up to her chin so she wouldn't get cold in her sleep. I look down at her and push a piece of hair out of her face and tuck it behind her ear. I bend down and place a soft kiss to her forehead and stand up to head back down to the living room only to run into Max in the hallway. I look at him and he looks mad, wondering what he could be mad about I frown and walk past him so whatever is wrong it doesn't wake up Valentina. With a huff he follows me and as soon as we are in the room he roughly says,

"What do you think you are doing with Val? Kissing her? Don't tell me you fucking like her now, you are just here to help her open up and be a friend!"

I blink as my eyes grow wide as he just seems to get angrier and angrier as he rants, I hadn't seen him like this in awhile. This wasn't Max in front of me, it was Mad Max and I didn't know what to do so I said the truth,

"Yeah man, I'm starting to fall for her. She is just so sweet and kind and just stunning, she is also funny and a really good cook. What's not to fall for Max? And I get you are protective over her and all but you know I would never hurt her if she even wanted to gave me a shot to be together. What, why are you flipping out, acting like Mad Max again? Do you like her or something?"

His eyes darken as he steps towards me sending a shiver down my spine. I had seen plenty of Mad Max through the years but never have I had it directed at me like this, but I don't let my uncertainty show. I straighten my back as he lowly says,
