Swallowed My Pride

I swallowed my pride, 

I swallowed it whole.

I swallowed my defeat,

I swallowed my fall.

Ive come to realize it, and I realize it late.

That I had to let of you,

I had to let go of my hate.

That I had to forgive you,

though you started the fight.

And thats what I did,

admitted defeat and disapeared from sight.

I had to do it,

I had to set you free.

Before someone else gets hurt.

Someone.. Someone besides me.

So I guess its over,

all is said and done.

I lost the battle but it feels like Ive won.

Ive won back my dignity and its a strange feeling.

Because losing battles never felt this rewarding.
