Nooby & Guest

The brightness overwhelmed me as sunlight blinded my eyes.

I felt upset, because the moment me and Star stepped out of the building, I was already getting looks. I was wishing that Star never brought me outside, but she reassured me that everything will be alright as she led me out onto the streets and to the park. Once I got used to it, I could see that it was very beautiful. It was a pretty hazy day, and the song of the birds calmed me down. There was a chilly breeze—it was a day of autumn—and as we walked, side by side, we stepped on dry leaves, as I focus a bit too much on the crunchy sounds under our footsteps. I wish I could go out every day like this; I felt at peace for once. We walked for a little while, until Star stopped in her tracks. I was able to hear something ringing inside her purse. She opened it, taking out an odd rectangular object, which looked like a mini television to me. Tapping on it, she raised it to her ear, and I could vaguely hear a voice.

"What? Oh. Yeah. Mhm." It went on like that for a few seconds, until she lowered it down and put it back in the purse. She was frowning now. I tilt my head in concern.

"Nothing... Cosmos wants me to buy some things. Honestly, he could've just said it back at home..." Star let out a sigh, then turned to me. "You can sit on that bench," she said, pointing at a bench some blocks away, "and I'll get the stuff from the nearby store. I'll be back as fast as I can, alright?"

At first, I felt frightened—what if I get captured again? But Star gave me a pat on the head, saying nothing, and that was all I needed to stay calm, as I watched her head off and disappear.

I sat down at the bench she had pointed at. The terrible feeling of being stared at was slowly creeping back up to me, so I decided to observe my surroundings to calm down. The slight haze added a soft touch to the warm day. Orange trees stood out against the gray sky, and dry leaves were scattered around the ground. Laughter of children were heard all around me, and I could still hear the cheerful song of the birds.

People were passing by me, and though I didn't pay much attention to them, one caught my eye. Or two. I'm not sure, but I was more interested in the Noob with a bandage on his cheek, who was talking animatedly with a Guest. A Guest and a Noob together... felt odd? Also, I'm pretty, completely sure the Guest wore that black hoodie to disguise himself, but if that's what it is, I didn't think it was a very good one.

The Noob chatted with the Guest, holding his hand and swinging it, unless he stopped in his tracks. He must've seen me looking at them, and I quickly looked away, but he was already in front of me.

"Hello!" he said happily, reaching out his hand to me. Why does everyone reach out their hand when they meet someone? I didn't take it.

"Oh, that's fine." the Noob said, and waved instead. I waved back.

"My name's Nooby, and you look... awesome! What's your name?"

I hesitated, trying to remember the name Star gave me... Noob... Guest...
I muttered, "NoobGuest."

Nooby tilted his head in interest—his eyes were quite literally glimmering in amazement; I could almost see stars in them.

"Wow! NoobGuest, I like that name! Hey, Guest, look!" Nooby called out to Guest with the black hoodie. I wonder why he wore it.

He approached Nooby, and, putting a hand on his shoulder, he shook his head with a smile. I recognized what he tried to say—he thought Nooby was overwhelming me. I wasn't very bothered, though. It's nice to see people who find me interesting and not weird. I appreciated it.

Nooby sat down next to me, and motioned Guest to do so, as well. Once Guest settled down, Nooby began to speak again.

"So, how'd you get that?" he asked. "Those stitches."
