I was roused from my light slumber by the sound of the tent zipper opening. Cameron's presence filled the space as she settled onto the blow-up mattress, the nylon material rustling as she climbed into her sleeping bag. Curious about the late hour, I leaned over to check my phone. 3:26 am. Why was she only going to bed now? Cameron's soft sigh broke the silence, her breaths slow and measured. I debated whether to ask her about her late-night activities, but decided against it, not wanting to intrude on her privacy. Instead, I shifted in my sleeping bag, trying to find a comfortable position.

The dim light from my phone cast faint shadows across the tent, illuminating Cameron's back turned towards me. A pang of curiosity tugged at me as I watched her silhouette outlined against the soft glow. I hesitated, my hand hovering in mid-air, longing to bridge the gap between us, yet feeling the weight of an unspoken divide.

As I lay there, my thoughts drifted back to the events of the day, particularly the almost-kiss between Cameron and me. Emotions swirled within me, a mix of longing, uncertainty, and fear. I wanted to confront the tension between us, to give voice to the unspoken, but the words remained trapped in my throat, stifled by doubt. With a resigned sigh, I turned away, choosing silence over potential confrontation. It was easier this way, safer.

Suddenly, Cameron's voice shattered the silence, jolting me from my reverie. "Why are you the way you are?" Her words cut through the air, tinged with frustration and something else... the faint scent of alcohol. Had she been drinking? The realization struck me. "You haven't changed. You're never going to change," she continued, her voice laced with bitterness as she slurred.

I feigned sleep, my heart pounding in my chest as her words reverberated in my mind. Did she truly see me that way? Or was it the alcohol speaking? "You can't stop fucking with me, can you?" she slurred, her words painful that they cut me like a knife.

As Cameron's words hung heavy in the air, I remained silent, grappling with a whirlwind of emotions. Part of me wanted to lash out, to defend myself against her accusations, but another part yearned for understanding, for resolution. Yet, I lay there paralyzed. Minutes stretched into eternity, the tension thickening with each passing moment.

Finally, Cameron's breathing steadied, her presence a silent weight in the darkness. With a heavy heart, I realized that the divide between us had only deepened. Her soft snoring masked my quiet sobbing. I didn't know what to say to her. All I knew was that her words hurt, but there was nothing I could do about it now. With a resigned sigh, I closed my eyes, allowing exhaustion to pull me into the embrace of sleep.

I groaned as I shifted in my sleeping bag, awakened by the bright sun streaming into our tent through the window. Sitting up, I rubbed my eyes in an attempt to adjust to the brightness. Glancing down at the still-sleeping Cameron, I frowned and rolled my eyes.

I opened the tent and climbed out, greeted by the cold morning air. I breathed in the scent of fresh air and glanced over the entire landscape. It was beautiful, the tents looked over the dam, the valley in the background, the earthy smell of the ground and trees. It is Surprisingly calming.

"Ew you smell just like how you look." Peyton says just after she smells me and holds her nose playfully.

I smirk and pull her into a hug, squeezing her tightly, as we both laugh. "Good morning to you too, my dear sister," I tease, rolling my eyes and ruffling her hair.

"I'm going to the communal bathrooms. Do you want to come?" she asks, still giggling, as she leans into the hug.

I plant a kiss on her head before letting her go. "Hmm, sure. Sounds like a plan. I'll just need to grab a change of clothes first," I reply, nodding.
