Today is the day I turn eighteen. I have mixed feelings about it. My parents usually forgot about my birthday and they never bothered to celebrate it. It made me sad at first but soon I became numb to it. My friends remembered though, so that brought me enough joy. I am still in crutches, but something weird happened. My eye had healed, and it's only been two days, usually it takes a week or 2 for a bruise to heal. It freaked me out a little, but I am just glad it's gone.

I went to leave the house. On my way, I saw my mom and stepfather sitting together watching television. They were cuddling and holding each other. it disgusted me to see how close they were. Anyway, I started taking the bus to school, so my parents did not have to drive me, not that they would anyway. Luckily today is Friday, this week sucked. Well, all of it didn't suck, after all, I got to meet Alastor.

There was something he said, something about smiling. It stuck to me like glue and made me question Alastor. It was that day I gave him some jambalaya, and the day he insisted on walking me home.

FLASHBACK

"How do you always stay positive? I always see you with a smile. How do you get through life so positively?"

Alastor -"Just because you see a smile, don't think you know everything, my dear. A smile can do a lot, for you and for those who are around you. Besides you are never fully dressed without one."

So did that mean Alastor was hiding his emotions? Did that mean I didn't know who he truly was? Whatever he said made me want to find out more about him. I wanted to know how he felt, I wanted to know what he was thinking, I wanted to know everything about him. I didn't know much about him at all.

Alastor -"I apologize Y/n, but I feel like I can't say this enough, that jambalaya you made was absolutely wonderful! I do wish to try it again."

I couldn't help but smile at his words. Whenever someone said something positive about my cooking I couldn't help but smile.

Alastor -"Y/n, I do say, you have quite a charming smile. It fits you perfectly. You should smile more my dear! It looks lovely on you."

"Thank you, I think your smile suits you perfectly."

Honestly, I don't think I have ever met anyone like Alastor. He is such a great friend. I'm so glad I met him.

FLASHBACK END

What he said about my smile made me feel a bit better about myself. I didn't want to go to school today. It's alright though. I am just happy I am finally an adult. I got to the stop and waited patiently, I sat down at a bench and waited patiently.
