“Hanguang-jun?” the junior replied, making all three seniors freeze in shock.
“You look the same age as him—then how could he possibly be your father?” Lan Xichen asked, utterly bewildered.
Sizhui looked at the senior and answered with utmost respect, " Because we are from the future"
"what ?? Future?? How ??" Surprisingly this was asked by master lan. This is not joke. How can someone travel time. They are kids, maybe they are pranking thought lan xichen. They are also having clothes which only available for inner members of the family.
“What? Future? How?” Master Lan’s voice broke the silence, disbelief written all over his face. This wasn’t a joke—how could anyone manipulate time? Lan Xichen’s brows furrowed; they’re just kids, he thought, maybe they’re trying to prank us. But then again, their robes clearly belonged to the inner disciples—exclusive to the Lan family.
“By mistake, we used a newly invented talisman that can teleport people to the past,” Sizhui explained calmly.
Everyone stared at him in astonishment. A talisman that can manipulate time itself? That was beyond comprehension—but the boy’s composed demeanor made it hard to doubt him.
“So, you mean… you are Wangji’s son?” Lan Qiren asked, his voice filled with rare warmth and pride. It made sense—Sizhui’s impeccable manners and serene temperament perfectly reflected the Lan clan’s ideals.
Sizhui nodded respectfully.
However, Lan Zhan was in complete disbelief. My son? Impossible. His thoughts spun in chaos. He could never marry anyone except Wei Ying… but how could he even have a child with him? it’s absurd, Lan Zhan thought, his stoic mask barely hiding his inner turmoil. Firstly, Wei Wuxian was clearly into girls—everyone knew that. Secondly, even if he wasn’t, the idea of Wei Ying marrying him was unthinkable; they were complete opposites in every way imaginable. And thirdly, he was a man—he couldn’t possibly produce a child.
Sizhui had lived with Lan Wangji for years, so he could easily understand what his father was thinking right now. Seeing the subtle turmoil in Lan Zhan’s eyes, Sizhui reached out and gently held his hand.
“Don’t worry, A-die,” he said softly.
Lan Zhan froze, caught off guard by the word A-die. He wasn’t sure what he was feeling—shock, disbelief, or something deeper. When his gaze met Sizhui’s, his heart skipped a beat, but he quickly looked away. Sizhui’s smile faltered slightly at the reaction; still, he understood. His father had never been good at expressing emotions. He had heard from his Baba that this very trait had once caused deep misunderstandings between his parents—misunderstandings that had cost them years apart.
Wanting to reassure him, Sizhui spoke again, his voice calm yet sincere, “You married the person you love, A-die.”
Lan Zhan’s eyes widened ever so slightly. For anyone else, the change would have been imperceptible, but Sizhui noticed. His father’s usually expressionless face showed a fleeting trace of emotion before settling back into serenity. Sizhui offered him a gentle, comforting smile—one that silently promised understanding and acceptance.
Lan Xichen, who had been quietly observing, felt a strange unease rise within him. Until now, Lan Zhan had only ever opened up to him. He knew Sizhui was his nephew, yet it startled him how effortlessly the boy could read and soothe his younger brother. Sizhui was clearly accustomed to Lan Zhan’s silences. It warmed Lan Xichen’s heart—but also left him feeling unexpectedly lonely. He was happy for his brother, truly, but everything was happening so suddenly that he needed time to adjust.
