Dada had promised his new mommy was a great person. And she was, for a while, until she started hitting Shubman when Dada wasn't at home. A six year old Shubman couldn't control his tears when he had returned from school and his new mommy had refused to give him lunch because he didn't deserve it.

"B-but mommy, I got A in swchool, I deserwve food-"

"No you don't. You don't deserve anything good in this world, a thorn in my life. After all you are an Alpha, they are only good for fucking, they crave submission yet they'll not treat omegas like they deserve."

"B-but dada treats you so well, I don't unwderstand what you are saying mommy-"

"Shut up! Your father has no money, he has no status in society, what the hell will I do with love! I got married thinking I'll have a better life but of course, I was wrong. Your mother must have committed suicide because of you and your father! Demanding little shits!"

Shubman's lower lips wobbled as fat tears rolled down his eyes, why didn't he deserve anything good? Was it because he was an Alpha? Did Alphas deserve no love? But his own mother loved his Dada so much, she loved him so much.....

His uncle rubbed a hand down his head as Shubman felt his body stiffening. His uncle brought him into his custody after his Dada died and his stepmother-

Shubman cried out loudly as his uncle pulled him into a hug, strong and assuring that he was safe. Phantom pains. That’s how it started, Shubman reckoned. He was wrapped up in his uncle's arms when it hit him, the heavy thwack of something against his skull. It scattered his vision and he pushed his uncle aside, rubbing his throbbing forehead. The steady ache stayed with him the rest of his childhood.

"Omegas are venom. Deceitful creatures Shubi. They'll only love you for money, fame, everything selfish until you force them into submission. You'll have to let them know you own them, only then they'll stay. They should be scared of their Alphas, pathetic omegas."

His uncle had spit as he couldn't bear to see his nephew's condition, anger seething through him as he lost his own sanity to some mumbles of poisonous words that probably stuck to a young, helpless Shubman for a long time.

Possession. Submission. Owning. Scared. These small words stuck to his brain like glue, until....

Ishan had sparked a sense of happiness in the team ever since he joined the Indian Cricket Team. He was bubbly, sweet and epitome of everything positive as far as Shubman remembered. Could Alphas be so endearing, he had wondered as Ishan put cake on his cheeks after Surya's birthday celebration. He didn't even feel angry, Ishan had grown on him.

"Do I like him?" Shubman had asked himself on multiple occasions, the fellow Alpha bewitching him while they partnered on field, slept in the same room watching movies, discussing cricket, always near but never too close. He had concluded that Ishan didn't prefer touching very much, he would hug but never lingering for too long. Shubman thought it was cute.

Until....it was the night of Asia Cup win. The win was delightful, it had been the best partnership between him and Ishan since they had met, around one and a half years ago. He was waiting with everybody at the hotel lobby for Ishan to come downstairs so that they could go out for dinner.
