Ashin was in bed like they always were on Sundays-a single twin-size bed with a variety of blankets in different colors and sizes, and random pillows scattered about the plush grey comforter-still asleep. The sun was beginning to seep in through their black curtains, illuminating the pale grey walls and the posters pinned up all around the room. Their trombone case was sitting near their door, dirty clothes scattered all over the dark wooden floor, and their fuzzy grey cat settled at the foot of their bed.
It was hours until Ashin actually woke up, almost noon by then, and by then the rest of the house was already busy with noise and movement. Ashin yawned and stretched, sitting in bed for almost thirty more minutes before getting up and trudging to their closet. They pulled out a baggy black t-shirt, black shorts, and a pair of fuzzy black socks, before getting changed sluggishly.
Once they were finished, they trudged down to the kitchen, simple and small, and grabbed a banana. They sat on the couch, putting a random video on and staring at the TV while eating.
Then, a random thought popped into their head.
What would happen if I were to die today?
It was a surprise to them, they had never thought of such a thing before. Ashin shook their head quickly as if that would shake the thought out of their head.
But it lingered...
And lingered...
And lingered...
It stayed in their head when they were playing Overwatch with their friends.
It stayed in their head when they were eating dinner with their family.
It stayed in their head when they were getting ready for bed, the same routine they had gone through for ages. Get changed, wash your face, run a brush through your hair, and go to sleep.
Except, that night, it was much harder to sleep with the unusual thoughts buzzing in their head.
