"Theodore, Aurora!"

My mother's voice echoes up the spiral stairwell calling my older brother and I downstairs. I glace in my vanity mirror, touching up my hair before cradling my orange cat Ember and making my way down the steps.

My older brother Theo is already downstairs with his luggage, a pack of cigarettes hanging out of his back pocket.

"Don't you know those things kill you." I shove him as I walk by, while he chuckles at my remark.

Theodore has always been the outspoken one between the two of us, while being the only hufflepuff in a family of all slytherins has its difficulties. As his younger sister I always lived in his shadow but I decided this year would be different. This year I would make my own name for myself.

"Now, before I send the two of you off I want to make sure you know what is expected of you. Make your father and I proud and do nothing that could tarnish the Nott name." This speech was given every year before we left for school, it was almost as if I could recite it.

"Yeah we're well aware mum, thanks for the speech." Theo chimes in before I get the chance to, I nod in agreement.

"Well enough said, off you go! Here is your portkey, I expect to see you two over Winter Break!" My mother rushed us out the door and practically threw the portkey into my arms, I couldn't remember the last time she dismissed us with an "I love you."

"You ready?" I asked Theo, extending the portkey towards him. He nodded curtly and grabbed the magical device. The next minute was a blur, and then appeared Kings Cross Station.

--------------------------------

The crowds of students and families flooded the station, my brother and I attempted to push through the crowd to the Hogwarts Express.

"It seems to get more crowded every year." I yell to him over the surrounding noise.

"Right?" He chuckles while we approach the train.

"Rory!" I hear a familiar voice calling out my nickname, my closest friend Dawn wraps her arms around me in a huge hug. "I haven't seen you all summer!" I exclaim, excited to see her.

"I know, you have to fill me in!" Dawns energy is like a ball of light, always energetic and in a good mood.

As we board the train I notice some other familiar faces such as the golden trio, my brothers slytherin friends and one specific person completely caught my attention.

His grey eyes, they quickly  match my green ones. Eventually they leave my eyes and scan the rest of my body as if he was making notes on my appearance, I had changed over the summer. My body had matured and my lips filled out.

"Rory" He smirked, and gestured for me to come sit with him and his group of friends including my brother. I look to Dawn and she shrugs, Dawn is just about the only Gryffindor they accept due to her family being intertwined with theirs. We go and join them, Dawn sits next to Pansy and I sit down after. Draco slides in the seat next to me, his minty cologne filling my senses. The group starts to converse and speak about their summer adventures when I hear Draco,

" So, Aurora. What did your summer consist of?"

"I spent a lot of time at the beach actually, and I hung out with Silas a few times; other than that just going to my families events." I replied, noticing Draco's demeanor shift after mentioning the Gryffindor.

"Well, you definitely uh changed over the summer time" Blaise chuckled, Theodore kicking him under the table in response.

I blushed after the comment, taking note of Draco's sour attitude on the way to Hogwarts. Dawn and I caught up with the other Slytherins about our summer activities when I heard a very familiar voice. Silas's face came into view as he passed my compartment, he was laughing and joking with his friends on the quidditch team.
