The Musician's Weakness
Faye's seventh birthday...
Lance and Art prepared a big birthday celebration inviting a number of their relatives and Faye's close friends.
"Thanks for coming Aunt Mel!" Art greeted.
"It must have been a long drive from the country side to the city?" Lance said as Aunt Mel handed her gift.
"Don't worry about that dear," Aunt Selma said. "My husband George drove us here."
"George?" Lance said confused.
"What happened to Dennis?" Art added.
"Long story," Aunt Selma answered. "By the way Lance where's your girlfriend?"
"Auntie, me and Gwen broke up almost a year ago." Lance said.
"That's a shame; we really thought that you and her would tie the knot." Aunt Mel added sounding disappointed.
Art over heard this and decided to continue listening.
"It wasn't working out, and maybe she's not the right one." Lance joked.
"What's your weakness for girls?" The Aunts asked.
"Well. I'll do anything to have a pretty girl with a beautiful voice." Lance described.
Then Art had an idea.
"Ah, Lance let's facilitate the party!" Art pulled Lance and they went in front of the guest.
"Before we all dig in!" Art said.
"Let's greet Faye a wonderful seventh birthday!" Lance announced.
"Happy Birthday Faye!" Everyone greeted.
Then a young boy went near Faye and gave her a gift. "Um, happy birthday Faye." He whispered.
Then Faye's friends suddenly made a fuss about it.
"Hey kid, aren't you too young to hit on my sister?" Art blurted out.
"Art!" Faye shouted. "Stop intimidating him! He's just my friend."
"Art, picking a fight with a seven year old?" Lance pulled his brother. "Let's just leave them alone."
"Not you too Lance." Faye said. And both brothers laughed.
After a week Art took Lance to the park.
"OK now I'm confuse, you don't like the park." Lance stated.
"Don't you want to get inspiration here?" Art said. "You are writing again."
But then Lance heard a beautiful voice.
♫ "It's a little bit funny this feeling inside. I'm not one of those who can easily hide."
"Can you hear that Art?" Lance stood up.
"What? Children shouting?" Art asked.
"That voice, that song." Lance walked towards the sound.
♫ "And you can tell everybody this is your song. It may be quite simple but now that it's done." It was a beautiful young lady singing to song children. "I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind. That I put down in words."
"How wonderful Life is now you're in the world."
After her song the children asked for another but she apologized and told them that she had to go.
She stood up and walked away. But Lance caught up with her.
"Hey," She turned around. "Can I help you?" She asked.
"I, I overheard you singing and It was wonderful." Lance complimented.
"Ah, thank you." She smiled at him. But Lance was just staring at her. "You alright?" She asked.
"Ah, yah, of course." Lance was dumbfounded went Art came out of nowhere.
"Hey, chick, what's your name?" Art asked obnoxiously. "My shy brother can't get himself to ask on his own."
"Art!" Lance kicked him.
She giggled. "It's Jane." She answered.
"I see you like children, would you like a job?" art asked.
"ART!" Lance blurted out.
"What kind of job?" She asked.
"Baby-sitting." Art said and she looked at him. "There it's settled, here's our address and we'll be expecting you tomorrow." Art handed her the address.
"Oh, I'm Arthur Michaels and he's Lance Michaels."
And then he pulled Lance away. "Bye now."
"Art! The hell-" Lance said while being pulled away.
In Art's car...
"What was that about Art?" Lance asked.
"You should be thanking me." Art started the engine. "You would never have the guts to ask her out because you were too busy staring at her boobs."
"I wasn't staring at her boobs; I was looking at her face." Lance stated.
"Deny, deny." Art said.
