Lorraine and Anastasia spent the afternoon at the park, their laughter echoing through the trees as they swung higher and higher on the swings. Leaves danced around them, caught in a gentle breeze as they competed to see who could soar the highest into the sky.
"Careful, AJ, you're going to flip over if you go any higher" Lorraine warned with a playful grin, watching as Anastasia leaned back even further, defying gravity with each pump of her legs.
"That's the plan!" AJ exclaimed, her laughter carrying on the wind as she swung higher.
Her hair trailing behind her like a banner of freedom, while Rain shook her head, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"Well, if you end up doing a full 360, I'll make sure to tell everyone it was intentional" she spoke up, making Anastasia chuckle.
"Deal" the chestnut hair agreed, her hazel eyes sparkling with mischief.
As they swung, their banter flowed effortlessly, each teasing remark met with laughter and playful retorts. Lorraine couldn't imagine spending her Sunday afternoon any other way than with her best friend, sharing these carefree moments that seemed to suspend time itself.
Suddenly, Anastasia's laughter turned mischievous as she leaned closer to Lorraine.
"You know, Rai, I hope you get sat next to Anthony in Biology tomorrow" AJ joked, laughing at the girls reaction, as the brunette groaned at the thought, rolling her eyes.
"Don't jinx it, Annie" the girl complained, making the other smirk.
"I'd rather dissect a frog solo than spend another class with him" she added, making AJ laugh, her hair flowing around her head in the wind.
"Well, let's hope the universe is kind to you this time" she responded, while Rain smirked, a glint of mischief in her eyes.
"I hope you get stuck with Zach" she added, an amused smile on her lips.
"He's so weird" AJ scoffed, making Rain's smile grow wider.
"He's been trying to ask me out for weeks now, and he just doesn't get the hint" she added, while Rain laughed softly at the reminder of all the times her best friend had rejected him.
"Maybe you should just start wearing a neon sign that says 'Sorry, Zach, I'm into girls'" Rain joked, while AJ laughed, making Rain laugh as the sound was infectious.
"Honestly, at this point, it might be necessary" AJ added, making the two laugh harder.
