Chapter One

Lea sighed and turned her DS on. She was a typical teenage girl with an obsession with anime, drawing, video games and music.

The opening screen flashed white and she pressed A. She then booted her game and the familiar opening played. When the title screen appeared with the legendary Pokémon Reshiram, she pressed A again.

She was on Victory Road. She pressed X and opened the menu. From there, she went into the Pokémon section to refresh her memory on who she was training. She was greeted by her level 52 Serperior, Lief.

Right, she thought to herself. Better start training.

She entered the nearest cave and ran around, searching for an opponent. She soon found a wild Mienfoo and attacked it. It soon fainted and Lea’s Pokémon gained some EXP. She continued doing that until she heard a voice calling her name. By then, her Serperior was level 53.

“Coming!”

Lea paused her game and closed the black and blue DS. She raced downstairs in hope that whatever she had to do she could do quickly so that she could return to playing Pokémon Black.

“Can you please take out the rubbish, darling?” her mum asked.

“But it’s Robert’s turn” Lea complained.

“You know that Robert is at his friend’s place” her mum explained. “Please?”

“Fine” Lea sighed. She tucked her dark hair behind her ears and went over to the bin. “But Robert has to do my turn tomorrow.” She quickly emptied the bins and hurried to the bathroom to wash her hands. She then raced upstairs to her DS.

She had just opened her DS when she heard her mum calling again.

“What is it?” Lea asked as she went downstairs again.

“I need you to help me cook dinner, darling” her mum replied.

Lea sighed but didn’t complain. She then went over to her mum and helped cook.

“Can you please peel these, darling?” her mum asked and handed some carrots to her daughter. Lea accepted them and started peeling the orange vegetables.

“What did you want for your Birthday, darling?” her mum asked her as she was peeling potatoes.

“I don’t know” Lea lied as she finished peeling another carrot.

“Surely you know what you want?” her mum persisted. “You know your dad and I always have no idea what to get you. Is there a new video game or something that you wanted?”

“Well,” Lea began. “Truth be told, they’re releasing a new Pokémon game soon…” She trailed off.

“Yes?” her mum said. “If that’s what you want for your Birthday, then I can get it for you.”

“R-really?” Lea stuttered. “Thanks! It’s called Pokémon Black 2.”

“Pokémon Black 2…” her mum muttered. She quickly wrote it down and then continued peeling potatoes.

Lea soon finished peeling the carrots and proceeded by cutting them up into slices. She continued to assist her mum with cooking; only pausing when the front door opened.

“Hello my beautiful family!” her dad exclaimed as he entered the house. “How are you today?” He entered the kitchen and kissed his wife’s cheek.

“We’re good, honey” Lea’s mum answered.

“Hmm…” Lea’s dad thought. “Where’s Robert?”

“Robert’s at his friend’s house” her mum replied. “He should be back soon.”

As if on cue, there was a knock at the door.

“I’ll get it!” Lea exclaimed quickly. She headed towards the door before anyone could complain. She opened it and was greeted by her brown-haired brother. Standing next to Robert was his friend Daniel.

“Hey!” Daniel said cheerfully. He then turned to his friend and said goodbye, heading towards his car.

“Hey” Lea greeted to both Robert and Daniel.

Robert waved goodbye and entered the house, completely ignoring his sister. “Is dinner almost ready?” he asked.

“Almost!” his mother replied from the kitchen.

“How was your day?” his dad asked as Robert sat down at the dining table.

Robert just grunted.

“Can you please set the table, sweetie?” Lea’s mum asked. She only called one person sweetie – Robert.

Robert sighed loudly and rolled his eyes. “N-” He got cut off.

“Come now, lad” his dad said. “You just got home from your friend’s house. It’s only fair.”

Robert sighed and got up. He then started setting the table.

“By the way,” Lea said. “You have to take the bins out tomorrow.” She snickered at her brother’s reaction.

“B-but why?!” Robert demanded. “It’s your turn tomorrow!”

“It was your turn today” Lea stated calmly. “But I didn’t complain when I so kindly did it for you.”

“It’s only fair, sweetie” their mum added.

Robert growled, his brown eyes flashing in annoyance. “Fine!” he snapped. He then continued setting out the table.

Dinner was soon served and as soon as Lea was done eating, she excused herself and raced upstairs. Straight to her DS.

“Pokémon time!” she muttered to herself as she started playing, continuing where she left off.

She spent the rest of her night level grinding before she headed off to bed.
