They stand before a cottage nestled in the depths of a shadowy forest after stepping through the mirror.
The boys gaze at the entrance to a derelict mine. "So, this is the Dwarves' Mine," Deuce exhales, glancing at He Xuan as he adds, "It was renowned for its abundant magestone deposits."
Grim shudders, a chill running down his spine. "Ugh... who knows what kind of dangers lie in wait now?"
He Xuan takes a bold step forward. "I should lead the way and scout it out." Ace quickly interrupts, "Absolutely not, Pretty Boy. You're practically our protector here. The last thing I want is to have to tell the Headmage that his star student vanished while we were supposed to be looking out for him."
Yuu chimes in, "We really ought to stay together." As they start to move, He Xuan points out, "Hey, look at that—a cozy little house."
A small cottage standing in the midst of the forest with a little creek and bridge to cross it.
Intrigued, Ace proposes, "Why don't we go check it out? Maybe someone can tell us what happened here."
They make their way into the cottage. Deuce calls out, "Helloooo? Is anyone there...?"

Deuce scans the bare cottage, exclaiming, "Wow, it's totally deserted."
He Xuan replies with a straight face, "Really? I had no idea. How observant of you"
"Thanks" Deuce nods, not heeding the dry tone from the pretty student, "yep. It definitely has that abandoned vibe."
He Xuan thinks to himself, 'I suppose they're not equipped to chores or they're lazy. I had to clean a-die's mess when he forgets to clean the living room...if A-Jiu doesn't get to him first...'
Grim struggles to free himself from a particularly stubborn spider web, spewing out in irritation, "Ugh! There are spider webs everywhere!" He grimaces as he finally manages to flick the last of the web away from his face.
He Xuan carefully swipes at the sticky webs that have ensnared Grim's fur, prompting the creature to cough and sputter as more strands stick to his face. The little beast wriggles in discomfort, its wide eyes darting around as if expecting more of the sticky traps to spring up from the shadows. Pulling his hands back, He Xuan thinks to himself, 'I can't afford to get caught in another web... not after the last time.'
