It wouldn’t be hard to believe that I hated just about everyone in my year level. The guys were dicks and the girls were complete bitches. I had one best friend, his name was Alex. We had been best friends since we were 5. His dad passed away when he was 10, so he lived alone with his mum. We lived next door to each other. Literally. You know how you watch those movies or music videos where the girl and boy live next door to each other are their rooms are facing the same way, so you could see them through your window. It was like that. We were like the dynamic duo.
“Hannah, I’m going out tonight, I left $25 on the dresser for you to get dinner with. Be good!”
Mum yelled as she was walking out the door. I called Alex and asked him to come over, and headed upstairs on the computer. I logged onto Facebook and of course there was nothing interesting.
*Hayley James: weow Party time!
*Jessica Bray: Pre party drinks with the faves.
Of course a party that I’m not invited to. I heard a knock on the door and went down stairs, it was only Alex.
“Han, where’s your mum going out tonight?” Alex excitedly asked me as he was walking in.
“umm, not sure. I think she said something about some trivia night in the city. Why?” I knew something was going on in his head; he never usually comes over this excited unless he wants to do something stupid or dangerous.
“Wanna crash Danny’s party at his parent’s beach house?”
“What! What sort of drug are you on? What makes you think the biggest losers in school would be able to get into a party thrown by the most popular guy at school” I asked in misunderstanding.
“There’s like a ton of people going, trust me. He won’t even know we’re there.”
“No, it’s too risky. Something bad will happen!” I’ve always heard about these parties that go on, the drinking, hook-ups, the sex, not really my scene.
“I promise, nothing bad will happen Han. I would never let anything bad happen to you! What kind of best friend would that make me?” he said with a smile on his face.
“Fine. You’ve convinced me, just let me go get dressed. I’d rather not rock up in trackies and ugg boots.”
“YES!” Alex excitedly whispered as he clenched his fist like he just kicked the winning goal at the football grand finale.
I ran upstairs and looked though my clothes and found black leather shorts and a black and white stripped shirt that was tight at the bust then flowed out to the waist line that I’d been saving to finally wear to a party. I quickly put some product in my hair, chucked some mascara on, grabbed my black heels and went back downstairs to meet Alex.
“Wow, you look amazing” He looked at me with a huge smile across his face.
“Thank you” I replied as I blushed walking towards him.
“Now, LET”S READY TO PARTAYYY!!” Alex yelled as he danced out of the house
“Oh my god, you get way too excited over this stuff.” I stated as I shut the door and caught up to him.
We arrived at the party at 8, Alex said it was cool to show up to a party at that time. I didn’t question him, he knew more about this stuff then I did. We got to the party and walked inside. He was right. No one even noticed we walked in. I looked around and it was everything I expected. Everywhere I looked there were girls playing tonsil hockey with guys, no one was drunk yet, as it was only 8 o’clock. I felt extremely self-conscious as all the girls around me looked amazing. It was interesting to see what goes on at a party like this. Alex left me to wonder around and make some new friends. I don’t know about the new friends bit but it didn’t bother me, I was fine being by myself, I’m by myself 95% of the time.
“Hannah Scott?” I heard a voice say. But it wasn’t just any voice, I recognised it, but didn’t think it could ever be true. His voice, deep and rough, possibly the sexiest voice you could ever hear. Saying my name? I slowly turned around, unsure if what was happening. It was him. Danny Jones, the hottest guy in the school, the one whose party it was. His blonde dreadlocked hair, his tanned muscular body, his picture-perfect smile, standing right in front of me.
“Uh, H-H-H-Hi” I stuttered, what was wrong with me?
“Um, I don’t remember inviting you?” He said in confusion. Of course what was I thinking? Alex was wrong, he noticed! That some stupid loser that he’s never even spoken to is at his house!
“Yeah, sorry my friend Alex though it would be fun to crash, I’ll just leave now.” It was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened. The only reason he came to talk to me was to tell me that he didn’t invite me. I was mortified.
“Wait!” He yelled over the music, I quickly flicked my head around giving myself slight whip lash.
“Stay.” He said with a cute smirk. I was about to jump up and down and scream! Danny Jones wanted me to be at his party, ME! I tried to act cool and pretend that it wasn’t much.
“Thanks Danny” I shouted as the music got louder.
‘WANT A DRINK?” He yelled. I don’t know what got into me. I mean I had never had a drink, I was a good girl.
“Sure!” I replied, pretending as though I get asked for drinks all the time.
I slowly walked behind him; he grabbed me a beer out of the fridge and handed it to me.
“Wait, you drink Coronas yeah?” He asked as he was pointing to it.
“Yeah of course!” I answered hoping that he wouldn’t be able to tell that I had never even touched an alcoholic drink before.
“Do you want to go somewhere quieter? Like outside?” He asked. Who would turn down Danny? Certainly not me.
“Sure, I’d like that.” I answered as I took a sip of the drink, which wasn’t actually that bad.
He put arm behind my back and held onto my waist. By that stage I couldn’t breathe. Was this all just a dream?
