Cake fiasco

Okay, uh, where are the cups? I asked

Over here. Mondo said

Mondo picked up the cups and placed them on the table. I nod and stare at the party setting. I pull out my checklist and see...

Where's the cake? I ask

Everyone looks around, but the cake is no where to be found. I gasp in shock.

We don't have the cake!? A birthday party isn't the same without a cake! I yell

I sigh and pinch my nose before looking up at everyone.

Y'know what. Fine. Maybe I can make a quick order and get someone to pick up the cake. I mutter

Oh author-chan~ Kokichi said

No. I'm not letting you and Miu pick up the cake. I said

What!? But- Miu tried to say

I need you two for a more important job. Watching the pie. I said

Aw! But that's boring! What's the pie gonna do? Walk away? Kokichi said

No. Uh, Kaede. Can you go quickly pick up a cake. Doesn't matter what flavor it is. We just need a cake. I said

Sure! Kaede said

Aw! Kokichi whines

Kaeidiot!? Oh come on! Miu groans

Here's enough money to get a cake. We're counting on you. I said

No problem author-chan! Kaede said

Kaede's walking down the street with the money in her pocket, muttering something under her breath. She walks into a store and toward a bakery inside. What she doesn't know is that Kokichi and Miu followed her.

Author-chan thinks that we aren't trustworth! But we'll show her! Let's get what Kaede was sent to get and give it to author-chan before she does! Kokichi said

Yeah! We just gotta get the...uh...oh sh*t! What were we supposed to get!? Miu said

F*CK! I forgot! Kokichi said

What do we do now!? Miu asked

Uh...something about...ca...ca...CANDY! It must be candy! Kokichi said

Miu grabbed a random pack of candy. They were about to buy but they gasped seeing Kaede already buying what they assumed was candy.

Sh*t! Rush hour lines! We don't have time for that! Kokichi said

Look! The self checkout! Let's make a break for it! Miu said

Both yell as they run through the self checkout. Miu throws money at the machine as they run out. They suddenly stop seeing Kaede stop at a red light. They both snicker at her.

Look at her. Wait till author-chan sees the candy we got and- Kokichi tried to say

Kaede takes a quick look into the bag and pulls out, not candy, but cake. A vanilla cake with small chocolate chips covering the sides.

Wait...Kokichi. That's not candy. Miu said

We were supposed to get a cake!? Kokichi said

Both looked down at the bag of candy in their hands. They wince as Kaede walks all the way back home.

Oh good! The cake! I said

Kaede puts the cake down on the table. I grin seeing the cake was perfectly fresh. Suddenly, the door opens and Kokichi and Miu run in with the bag of candy.

Wha-!? Where were you guys!? Why do you have a bag of candy? I asked

We went to get the cake but we forgot what we were getting so we got a bag of candy only to realize it wasn't candy! Miu confessed

You did what!? But what about the pie!? I said

Oh come on! The pie is perfectly fi- WHA!? Kokichi yells

The pie was gone! Both kids gasp.

It's gone!? Kokichi yelled

The pie ran away! Miu yelled

No! Any wild animals could have taken the pie! Your job was to look after it! Make sure no animals get the pie. But I guess we aren't having any. I said

...

I feel awful. Author-chan really did trust us. Miu said

Yeah- wait! Look! Kokichi said

A goat was tugging the pie to his home to eat it. Both kids smirk at each other.

C'mone Kokichi! Let's do the job we were meant to do! Miu yelled

Both kids yelled and the goat dropped the pie out of shock.

...

Woah! That cake was good! Amanda said

I-I guess. Toko said

Toko had a small birthday hat on her head. I insisted she wear it.

I'm hungry for some pie. Shuichi said

I picked up the pie, it was perfectly untouched. I turn to Miu and Kokichi. Both were beat up, but they did their job.

I still can't believe you guys went back for it. I said

It was what we were meant to do. Both kids said

I laugh before slicing the pie and giving both kids two slices.

Aftermath:

Everyone had a full feast of cake and pie. We even got some yummy candy to finish the meal!
