JANESSA kissed the dirt road instantly. She groaned as she picked herself back up. She was a bit hurt to see that no one had looked back.

But there was better things to be worried about. 'The world doesn't revolve around you.' She thought.

She put some pep in her step to catch up with the others. She was tired, she was hungry, she was dehydrated and most of all light. She could tell she had lost a bit of herself considering they haven't been eating the best.

It was terrible.

But whenever Janessa did have food in her hands. She just ended up giving half of it to her pregnant mother. So, yes she was refusing to eat. But she figured someone else needed it more.

It's always been that way growing up for Janessa. Well, up until she was seven, when she had been adopted by Rick Grimes and Lori Grimes.

But how she grew up when her biological parents, would explain how it got to the point of her being adopted.

They were young parents. Eighteen and seventeen to be specific. It wasn't by choice, they just had happen to be not using protection. And, well, learned their lesson.

They were poor. Jumping couch to couch, motel to motel, car to car and even sleeping at homes her mother nannied at. Janessa was an only child at the time but at that point it felt like her own parents were her siblings.

At her young age, she started feeling responsible for them. Responsible for her own parents. Feeding them her food cause she was afraid they weren't eating.

Janessa has just always had this tendency to feel responsible of people she shouldn't have to be.

The sound of crunches caught her attention. The sound of leaves crunching. Which could only mean one thing.

"Walker!" She called out, pointing her finger towards where she had heard the sound.

Everyone flipped their heads towards where she pointed, their guns raised. Rick stepped up first while everyone stayed put. He put his arm out in front of his daughter and his creeped up to the noise.

The noise revealed itself. But no shots were fired.

A dirty blonde preteen girl slipped from behind the trees. An unfamiliar face. Rick's gun did not drop though. "Drop the knife!"

The young lady dropped her weapon, it crashing onto the leaves. She hands raised in a weak attempt to surrender. "Dad, you drop the gun."

Janessa didn't like this one bit. The girl did look around Carl's age to her. "Do.. you guys have shelter.." The girl shook.

"No." Rick lowered his gun slowly but he still glanced around anxiously. "Are you alone?" Beth had spoken up as she creeped up onto the girl.

"Yeah.. i was with a girl. She said she'd be back, she'd left." The little girl spoke. The information she had given wasn't really clear. Everyone had questions, like 'why was this little girl here, alone?' was a major one.
