Just Curious

I've never been outside. I've never walked to school or played in a park. I've never even watered our garden. I've heard the stories though. Back in the olden times everyone in the world went outside. According to my history textbook, they would do a physical activity, which they called "sports" outside, or play games outside or even sometimes they ate their food outside. Mum never runs or plays outside and she especially does not eat her dinner out there.

I've also learnt about the time in history when people began to stay inside more. Modern technology was just getting started and they would stay inside their homes and chat to each other through their computers or mobile phones. Mum says it was the point in time when people started thinking clearly.

A hundred years ago or so, when my great great grandma was my age, a man called Edward Vanderclein made the Discovery. He scientifically proved that the oxygen in the air around the world was the reason people died because it was a poisonous gas that killed everybody extremely slowly. The theory back then to all the constant deceases around the world was "old-age". Soon after the Discovery, everyone locked themselves in their houses but gas masks were distributed to every household for when leaving their house was necessary.

Since then, the government has worked with the best of the inventors to create TechnoPatrolians or "patrols" as we call them. They are animatronics that travel the streets every day, ensuring security, delivering necessities to the population and capturing escapees.

Every so often, I hear of a citizen that goes outside, trying to stay hidden. But the patrols always get them. There hasn't been a successful escape or departure of the town since the Discovery. I don't know why they would want to escape though. Maybe they were just curious.
