"That's gonna kill you sooner or later, Lee," Azriel remarked, snatching the cigarette lazily hanging from Lyric's lips. She looked up from her guitar, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Yeah, I know. That's kinda the point," she retorted, rolling her eyes before dropping the guitar onto the ground.

Azriel took a cautious step back, recognizing the determined glint in Lyric's eyes. She started towards him, each step making him retreat further.

"Lyric," he said in a warning tone, his voice wavering slightly as her fingers buried themselves in his snow-white, fluffy hair. She grinned mischievously, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "What?" she asked innocently, her head nestling into his neck as she placed a trail of kisses along his porcelain skin, leaving marks of dark red lipstick.

Azriel let out a groan, his resolve weakening as she tugged on his hair. "We... we shouldn't do this," he stammered between breaths, his body betraying his words. Lyric brought her lips to his ear, her voice a sultry whisper. "Why did Eve eat the apple? Temptation," she murmured, drawing his chin closer and dragging his lower lip down. "And I like temptation."

With that, she kissed him with such ferocity that he couldn't help but pull her closer, his hands gripping her neck, wanting more. He knew he shouldn't be messing around with Hades' lieutenant, but she was too tempting, too hard to resist. It must be the Aphrodite charm, he told himself.

"Lyric," he whispered between kisses, his breath hitching. "You're dangerous."

She smirked against his lips, her hands roaming his chest. "Danger's my middle name."

Lyric's fingers tugged at his shirt collar, slowly unbuttoning it until it pooled around their feet. Tracing her fingers down his chest, she grinned, about to say something when a sudden knock came on the door. She groaned in frustration as Azriel quickly got his shirt back on, making his way back to the bed and picking up the guitar he'd given her to try out.

"Yes?" Lyric called out, opening the door to find one of Hades' soldiers standing there, a note in his hand. Handing it to her, he bowed and marched off, leaving her with a sense of curiosity. She unfolded the note, her eyes scanning the words.

"Lyric,

We understand you've just escaped from Tartarus  but the camp is in desperate need of your help. The borders are crumbling, and we can't hold out much longer. I've sent Annabeth to retrieve Percy, but even with them, we're stretched too thin. You're our last hope, Lyric. Your strength and courage are what we need now more than ever. I know it's a lot to ask, especially after all you've been through, but the camp needs you.

Chiron"

Lyric's mind raced as she folded the note back up, a mixture of emotions swirling within her. She knew she had to act, even if it meant leaving behind the moment of temptation she had just indulged in. She turned back to Azriel, fear and rage replacing the mischief in her eyes.

"You have to go, Lyric," Azriel said softly. She scoffed, her anger bubbling to the surface. "Where were they when I needed them? Tell me, where the fuck were they when I was dying down there? In that cold, dark place with monsters everywhere, wanting to kill me. No one came for me. Why should I help them now?"

"Because you're better than that. The camp needs you. You heard Chiron—the barriers are down. Your friends and siblings need you, Lyric. You have to go."

She sighed, frustration evident in her eyes. "Fine, I'll go," she said, her voice resolute.

Azriel nodded, "I'll be here when you get back," he replied, his tone sincere. "Just... be careful, Lyric."

"You wish. You're coming with me, Elsa."

"You have got to be kidding me."

"Nope," she said, slipping the note into her pocket. Winking at Azriel, she kissed his cheek. "Don't be late. I'll ask Chiron to let you stay in the big house." With that, she dissipated into shadows.

Azriel held his cheek, sighing to himself as his form dissolved into the shadows.

"Won't you scream for me?" The cyclops grinned, her ugly teeth gleaming at Lyric, who whimpered. She truly had no strength left to fight. Her leg was twisted at an unnatural angle, and her wings were battered and broken. Her neck bore sharp claw marks from a near-fatal encounter with a hellhound.

She was tired, desperately praying for death. "If it pleases you to see me in such a state, kill me already. Add me to your collection," Lyric mumbled, nodding to the pile of bones opposite from where she hung. The cyclops smacked her across the face, sending her flying.

She was grateful for the celestial bronze chain keeping her suspended in the air, "Oh, come on. You can do better than that," she egged on. The cyclops growled, dropping the large ladle she'd been using to stir 'soup' and yanked Lyric from the chain, causing her to yelp as her broken legs were squeezed.

A surge of strength came to her, and she shot an orb of shadow flames at the cyclops, who roared in surprise. One thing she'd realized about her shadows: they didn't obey any laws of physics. Normally, Cyclops were immune to fire, but her shadows were a thousand times hotter than lava.

She used the distraction to hide herself from the cyclops with shadows. It was physically hurting her, keeping the fire on the cyclops and the shadows concealing her. She covered her mouth to stop the pained cry from escaping her as she limped on her good leg (which wasn't that good, by the way). Taking a big breath, she flapped her wings, which beat unsteadily and out of rhythm but managed to lift her a few good feet in the air before dropping her to the hard, murky ground.

The roars of the cyclops echoed even from where she was. Shakily, she raised her arm, producing a large orb of shadows that towered over her and sent it at the cave, which immediately collapsed in black shadows. There was silence now.

Even though she had won, she felt defeated because she knew; no one was coming for her.
