______[Your POV]
--A Few Days After Previous Chapter--
Pain. Anguish. Suffering. It's something we all go through. Thankfully, at the end of the day, most of us can at least come to terms that not all of it is bad. That, if we really think about it, the good far outweighs that of the bad. However, that isn't the same for all. For whereas there are some who can recall their memories, even if they are ones of pain, they can still manage to find some joy out of them. But for others, there is no joy. No fleeting moment of happiness. Nothing that sparks a smile to their face upon remembering something. It wasn't the case for a lot of people, but for the unfortunate few, their lives are nothing but a battlefield. Each and every day they embark on it, they're greeted by yet another wave of potential sorrows.
That's probably the best way to describe the youth of Ryomen Sukuna. A young girl born into a world, wanting nothing more than the love and comfort of her family. But, of course, they wanted more, and what they received on that incredible day a beautiful baby girl was born, was not enough. The difficult upbringing brought onto her by her father was what eventually led Sukuna to destroy her entire village and go on a warpath until one day she received the title of Queen of Curses. A powerful figure feared by all. However, if they were to see her in her current state, perhaps they may think otherwise.
Lying on some carved deer skin in the middle of the woods, wrapped in bandages and left to soak in her wounds, Ryomen Sukuna now appeared like any other mortal. The consumption of her power over a constant state for the last few months eventually left her so weakened that she fell in the heart of battle, and all to a man she wanted nothing more than to kill. However, what was amusing, was the fact that once Sukuna had fallen, her unconscious body lying in the middle of a village, open for the kill, the man did no such thing. He didn't raise his sword once after realizing Sukuna could fight no more. Even as the people of the village clamoured for him to strike her down, to end their suffering, and bring about a thousand years of peace to all.
Instead, he picked up her injured body and carried her for three days. Never once stopping, fearing that those innocent villages would take on their anger to hunt Sukuna down and kill her themselves. But the man couldn't let that happen. So he kept walking. Kept carrying Sukuna. Until eventually, three days later, they came to a small clearing in amongst some woods, right next to a riverbank. It was in this very spot that the unconscious body of Sukuna now rested. Not far away, the clothed back of (Y/n), the man whom Sukuna had a mixture of annoyance and something else for, could be seen seated atop a turned-over pot next to the riverbank. In that very spot, a fishing rod rested in hand.
The line of the rod further disappeared into the gentle stream before his position. The hope of luck catching (Y/n)'s thoughts, praying that someone above would bless him with enough food for two. However, his prays may not have been enough. For as he continued to be travelled away mentally by his thoughts, he was soon forced back to reality, as a gentle groan and awakened murmurs began to arise from the sleeping figure behind him. Only, this sleeping figure was finally starting to wake up.
"...Mrgh...Mrah...Hu-Huh? Where... Am I?!"
The growing awareness in the figure's voice, as their sleeping consciousness slowly started to realise their strange whereabouts, further turning to anger, was more than enough to bring a smile to (Y/n)'s face. An expression (Y/n) didn't shy away from as he slowly turned around on his seated pot, to offer the gaze to the awoken figure.
(Y/n): "So...? You're finally awake, huh?"
No more than ten meters away, further up the bank of the river, Sukuna's body--currently positioned with the full weight being applied to her elbows--quickly turned in the direction of the voice. It was fair to say that as soon as her eyes landed on (Y/n)'s own, the Queen of Curses was instantly reminded of everything that had led to this moment. The fight in the village. His annoying nature. And the futile way in which he managed to remain standing during their little foray. Just seeing him and his stupid smirk was enough to bring about waves of anger, that even in the strange position on the ground, didn't stop her from yelling at the man with all her might.
