Grey, Rowan, Willow and Forrest had plans to go to a carnival.

It was something their town did every Summer, and the four decided that it would be fun to do together.

But Grey and Rowan had a plan.

Over the time they'd been friends with Forrest and Willow, they noticed the two acted different around each other than they had anyone else. They would share moments that definitely made the two other boys have their suspicions about them having feeling for each other. Maybe even secretly dating.

And they had some pretty good evidence.

Like how Willow would scoot just an inch closer to Forrest at lunch, or how when Willow was speaking, Forrest would – not so subtly – get lost in the girl's eyes, his own eyes almost holding a sense of longing.

So Grey and Rowan decided that they would make up some excuse that would lead to them not being able to go.

"Dude, where are they?" Willow asked, looking up from her phone for the third time in almost a minute.

"I don't know," Forrest said, looking to his right. "Have they said anything yet?"

"No," Willow sighed, glancing up from her phone again. She was starting to get slightly worried, not like she'd show it until it was serious, though.

When Willow's eyes weren't on her phone screen, she heard the sound that indicated someone texting back. It was from Grey.

"Hey, I'm really sorry guys, I can't make it."

Willow furrowed her brows before texting back. "What? Why not?"

"I have to get up early tomorrow. Track meet. I completely forgot. I'm really sorry, guys."

Then, Rowan texted.

"Really? I'm sorry, I can't either."

"What? Okay, it's fine, we can do this again next week," Willow replied.

Then, Willow spoke up in person. "Grey can't make it. Neither can Rowan."

"What? Why not?"

"Grey has to be up early, and Rowan didn't give a reason."

Then, Willow got another text. It was from Grey this time.

"You guys are already there right? Just go with each other."

Then, another from Rowan.

"Yeah, it'll be fun."

"Don't have too much fun though,"

Willow didn't even have to look at who said that to know it was Rowan again. The girl looked up from her phone screen again. "They said to just go together since we're already here."

Forrest shrugged. "Sounds good to me."

Willow shrugged as well and agreed.
