With the meeting of the Necromancer over, there were a couple of things that I had to be doing. They would deal with the delivery and finding a place to set down those things. What I needed was warehousing of stolen goods to be shipped and sold all over. There were a couple of ways of doing this, and if it was my previous world, I would be looking to send them out of the country.
But this was a world where things were not as easy to track with things like barcodes. They didn't have the tracking software and barcodes to scratch off like I used to have to deal with. So, I had alternatives of selling off this loot. I would start with my new underground contact. I needed gold and liquid funds quickly to spend. I needed to revamp the Brothel for high-end clientele. I needed gold to start the business of purchasing the Alchemical ingredients and making a profit for the organization. Then, I needed funds to make another business so I could distribute the stolen products.
If I wanted to make a gang here in the Demon Lands, I would have to be different than in the Empire. The problem was that things here did not seem to have the same destitution that I was used to seeing. Economic inequality was what created crime, and there wasn't that much here in the capital, at least, which meant that I would have to create inequality to have people become interested. Or incentivize crime so that it pays more than the average job.
I would have to go for the second if I wanted to start sooner rather than later. This meant a business and a place where people could get a reasonable payout for goods that were stolen to be fenced. The person would have to steal something and give it to us; then, we would move it to a place to be sold. There were probably already people doing this and just integrating them and spreading them.
That would also set up a trade route and more economics into the business and organization for people to take jobs. That would give them alternatives to crime in that organization as well, making it look more legitimate to the eyes of people. That brought me to a third thing that I needed from the businesses, and that was a transportation company and Carriers to move stolen and legitimate goods.
Owning transportation companies was a must in my past world as well, and the Demon lands, with their more robust economy, was the best place to start this. It was something that wouldn't make sense to do in the Kingdom of Arlin and in the Empire. But here, there was a stronger middle-class economy and a place to create the company. It would also employ young, strong men and women to move things for me. That meant less savory people or desperate people would and could work there without standing out.
This was the time to lay the framework, but there were two issues to start with. "I need at least a couple of carriages or wagons," I told a company that rented these things. Apparently, there was a need in the Demon lands or at least the capital for renting these things for a short period of time.
"We are low on carriages right now. But we do have a four-horse cart that can tow at least two wagons attached to each other depending on what you are planning to carry, Ma'am." The woman said, and I wanted to growl, thinking how stupid it was that I had to rent these with my actual identity. My previous world self was blushing in shame at the current me as I smiled.
"Okay, I am looking to hold it for a time next week. Unfortunately, my contract with the company does not have a specific date. Is it possible for me to have something held for a week duration for that timeframe?" I asked with a friendly smile towards the man in the dealership.
He looked thoughtful, "There have been delays, and I can put something aside, but you will have to put a deposit down, and it will cost a bit more." the man said thoughtfully, and I sighed.
"How much is the deposit?" I asked in reply, knowing I was on the losing side of the haggle. I swore in my heart I would do something to this man in the future if he fucked me over.
