Prompt- The hero lay dying in the villain's arms... what would the last lines be?

My response-

I groan as I feel my body move. Not by my control but by someone else. I open my eyes to see them.

"Hey. Why are you still here? You won, go take the victory."

They look at me with an emotion in their eye I never saw in all my ears. They had a sadness in it, a form of regret.

"This is no victory when I have to lose you."
"It was destiny to happen. The prophecy said that only one of us would live past the war."
"That doesn't mean the years we trained together, live side by side, make it hurt any less."

I look at them as they hold me to their chest. I feel myself becoming weaker by the second

"I have a final request?"
"What is it?"
"Can we see the sunrise? One last time, like back at the academy."

They give a nod, trying what it seems to hold back the tears that have already started to leak out.
They stand with me in their arms, just like when we would stay up late studying and they bring me back to the dorms.

I'm starting to get really tired.

"Hey." They nudge my head some getting my attention. "Don't close your eyes yet. Look the sun is about to rise."

I look outward.

Why is it so pretty? Was the sunrise always this beautiful?

"Can I make another request?"
"Possibly..." They say trying not to show their voice wavering.
"Stay... with me. I... don't wish.... to be alone." I struggle with my draining strength.
"You have never and will never be alone, I shall stay by your side, now and till the end."

I give a smile and whisper.

"Thank you.... my.... friend....."
