"jack you're picking cole up so make sure you pick him up at the right time! and DONT be suspicious" i read off the to-do list for cole's surprise birthday party. his birthday was earlier this week but we thought he should get his own party as kind of a final bash before school starts again. my parents are aware of the the party, but not its size. turns out, when you are as friendly and welcoming as cole is, you become friends with a LOT of people. they're spending the night visiting quinn and plan on getting back tomorrow.
a few members of the team are here helping get everything ready along with my group of friends. if you were wondering, yes trevor is here and yes, my friends are finding it very funny asking him about me.
"okay i'm gonna go get the cake and the snacks. i'll come back to drop them off right before going to get him" jack responds halfway out the door.
"okay that just leaves putting up streamers. i'll do that and who else isn't busy?" i ask, looking around.
"i'm not" trevor and ella respond at the same time.
"we got it kris, you can go chill and get ready for a bit. don't worry about us, we got it!" ella says, walking over and placing a hand on my shoulder. "right trevor?"
"uh yep! right! don't worry kris we got it." he smiled, grabbing the different colour streamers and heading downstairs, followed by ella.
after having a final look around, i head upstairs and start straightening my hair. im a little nervous about that duo together. not because i think they will do anything but they both like to talk and im not there to see what it's about.

safe to say, im shitting my pants a bit. i mean, putting up streamers, great! putting up streamers with the best friend of the girl i really like and recently went out with and kissed, scary.
"so. you like kris?" ella's question is a little scary but i think what is freaking me out a bit more is how calm her tone is and how she is just casually taping up a streamer.
"yeah i actually really do. i'm sure she's told you about everything already but i think that if it keeps going the way it is, by this time next month we can be a bit more serious." i nervous ramble while fidgeting with a piece of tape.
"damn bro wasn't expecting that" she laughs "if i'm honest, i do like you for kris. dont let that get to your head." she side eyes me quickly.
"i appreciate that" i smile, if the best friend approves, that's a good sign.
time goes by and everything is set up. i quickly run home to fix myself up before returning and hanging out with everyone.
"okay guys! cole will be here in 5 minutes so be on the lookout for jacks car!" kris yells as she comes down the stairs and holy shit she looks good. she makes jeans and a crop top look like a runway outfit.
"hey, how you doin?" i walk up to her and put a kind hand on her arm.
"i'm okay, a little stressed but overall, okay" she smiles, relaxing her shoulders slightly.
"well if you feel overwhelmed anytime throughout the night, come find me, okay?" i suggest, knowing it's bound to happen at least once.
"okay" she quietly says, holding the same smile.
"HEY EVERYONE THEYRE HERE!" johnny yells, causing everyone to become anxious.
we hear the door open and see jack walk in before we see cole.
"SURPRISE!!!!!" everyone yells, causing cole to flinch before realizing what he's walked into.
"guyssssss, you didn't have to do all of this!" he says, looking around at everyone and everything.
