The distant rumble of thunder echoed through the darkness, sending shivers down my spine. Each flash of lightning illuminated my room, casting eerie shadows that danced across the walls.
I looked out the window in front of me, and saw the flashed of white light paint the sky.
I sat up in bed as my body shook in fear, unable to stop. I felt as tears welled up in my eyes, as the thunder brought back memories I had no wish of remembering.
————————— PAST
I stood in fear as glass in front of me, that was once a vase, scattered on the hard marble floor.
And with that, I heard heavy foot steps coming closer and closer to me.
Soon revealing my father.
"WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING!?"
The words echoed though the room, bouncing off the walls and shooting right into my ears.
"I-I'm sorry, I was trying to clean it I swear b.. bu- I ac..." I was pulled by a sudden force on my wrist, dragging me to a dark room where light had only shot through a small window.
"Sorry my ass. You stay in here until your gay ass learns how to do shit right, You hear me? You're damn lucky I'm even putting in this room instead of throwing you out of here you cunt."
Tears rolled down my cheeks as the door slammed shut and a sudden rush of pouring rain was heard from the tiny window, soon gunshot like sounds of lightening were heard.
The walls seemed to close in around me, slowly suffocating me with each deafening clap of thunder.
————————— PRESENT
In a desperate attempt to find rest, I stood up with the grasp of a pillow held tightly to my chest, and scurried out the door — straight into the bathroom where the sound of rumbling thunder could barley reach. I flickered the lights on and tumbled to the ground, Unable to find stability.
I was soon huddled into the corner, waiting for faint sounds of thunder to die down. For what had felt like hours, I had thought of spending my night restless — before a sudden creek from the bathroom door caused me to jump, bringing me back to tears.
"Won!"
My eyes shot up in fear to see a worried Jay in-front of me. "J-Jay"
He dropped onto his knees right in front of me, holding a grip to my bicep and caressing my cheek in attempt to calm me down.
"What happend Won? Are you okay? Don't worry, I'm here."
"L-Lightening. I'm scared..." I broke up on my words, barley being able to speak through my cries and hiccups.
"I'm right here, don't cry please."
He kneeled down in front of me before pulling me onto his lap, and into his embrace. A feeling of relief instantly shot through my body before I clung onto him.
We stayed in the same position for awhile, sooner or later, my cries died down. And I fell fast asleep right in his arms.

I awoke to a familiar feeling of warmth around me, I looked down to see veiny arms wrapped tightly around my waist, giving me an instant idea of what was going on.
I attempt to shift my position, before Jay pulled me tighter to his chest, refusing to let go.
At that moment, it felt as if nothing else mattered. Dark memories that had flooded my mind, drifted away. And though I knew my growing fears would never go away, I was okay knowing that I had him.
