Little rays of sunlight cracked through the curtains, waking up Saboor. Sleep had come to her late last night, despite the cuddles and warmth her new husband gifted her. She marveled at the drastic change. Her past and her present were two different people. So much had changed, personalities altogether, in only one night.
She shifted in the bed and caught a glimpse of him, and her eyes twinkled like a child watching butterflies. Only now, those butterflies pranced about in her stomach, and her cheeks went rosy.

Some hours later, hearing the bustle outside, Muzammil woke up only to see his newlywed wife peacefully asleep beside him. A faint smile slowly surfaced on his lips as he tenderly pressed his lips against her forehead.
"Wake up, Saboor, good morning," he murmured sleepily in his husky voice, and she stirred in the embrace of slumber.
"Wake up," he whispered once again, and she opened her eyes, greeted by the soft hues of the morning light filtering through the curtains.
"Good morning," he repeated and nuzzled his nose against hers, evoking a smile and a blush.
"Good morning," she greeted and sat up in bed. He followed suit. As she sat up in bed, pushing the covers away, he pulled her closer, drawing a gasp from her.
"Not so soon," he cooed, planting a playful kiss on her cheek. She pushed him away, stood up, and walked off, leaving him laughing.

Saboor quickly put on her earrings and a dupatta on her shoulders. She turned and saw that her husband was still in the process of putting on his sweater. She came close to him and then pulled it on, and once done, fixed his collar while Muzammil watched in awe.
"So that's the thing about being married, hm? Bahaanay bahaanay se ladki haath lagaayegi?
"Kyoun, bura lag gaya? Then you can do it-" She started to retract her hands, but he quickly caught them, placing them back in their rightful place.
"Aap to bura maan gayi, begum! Hum to buss mazaak kar rahay thay..."
She smiled at him with a longing glance and then patted him on the shoulder. "Done. Abb chalein?"
"Haan, haan, let's go. I believe there's a crowd waiting for us."
And truly, there was a crowd downstairs with everyone gathered for breakfast. The affair was both busy and lavish. Many relatives had stayed back for the reception party and would only be leaving two days later, so the wedding house was full. As Saboor and Muzammil walked towards the bustling family, hand in hand, for the first time as newlyweds, they felt a moment of hesitation wash over them.
Right then, Mazhar spotted them and made his way over to greet them.
"Arey, you both are already here!" He embraced his son, and then moved towards his new daughter-in-law.
"I hope you managed to get some sleep despite all of his snoring," he joked, bursting into laughter, which prompted Saboor to giggle in response.
"No, uncle, I..." she stammered, uncertain of what to call him now. After all, he wasn't just her father's friend but her father-in-law now.
"It's okay, you can call me baba," he reassured her warmly, offering her an endearing pat on the head.
Saboor smiled, and Muzammil beamed at the conversation as he watched the two.
"Thank you, baba," she replied.

"Aur lo na, beta," Taayi ammi urged, placing another poori on Saboor's plate, and she stared at it in horror. It had been a whole thirty minutes of breakfast, and the entire family was urging her to eat. Despite having eaten quite a lot already, Saboor now felt like she might burst apart at the seams.
