"you still have one track left on your album to fill." liz, my manager, says to me. "i know, i know." i put my head in my hands. "i really think you should do a collaboration with someone." "i'm just not sure who would fit into this well." "you have a month to find someone, so i would get looking now." i nod my head at her. "there are a few parties coming up that i can get you invited to. try to mingle the best you can and find someone."
"i need an outfit that says 'i'm approachable and fun to be around,'" i turn to my best friend, madison. "how's this?" i have on a sleeveless long black dress that hugs my body perfectly with my hair up in a slick back bun. "hot."
madison and i got to the party venue at 7 and there were already loads of people there. "would you like anything to drink?" one of the servers asks basically the second we walk in. "can we get two diet coke and vodka's?" i ask. he nods and goes to get our drinks, coming back shortly.
i surveyed the room, trying to look for faces i recognized. i saw a few of my friends, but i mostly didn't know anyone. "come on," madison links her arm in mine and we walk in. "who shall we mingle with first?" i shrug, "still looking for someone we know." i say. i take a long sip from my drink. "if we're gonna mingle i need more to drink." i say as we walk towards the bar.
i lost count of how many drinks i've had, or what time it is for that matter. i can barely stand upright and i have no idea what i've said to anyone. i make my way through the crowd, trying to find madison. we got separated at some point but she was much more sober than me so i was sure she was fine. me, on the other hand, not so much. i could feel my stomach start to flip and i knew i had to make it to the bathroom.
i push people aside, stumbling to the bathroom as quick as i can. i barge in and run over to a stall, not even locking the door behind me, and throw up. as im ridding my stomach of its contents, i feel a hand run my back in circles, assuming it's madison, i turn around and throw my arms around her hiding my face in her chest. "it's okay." she says softly. i pull my head back a little and see a piece of light blonde hair on this girls shoulder, definitely not madison. i look up to see a beautiful girl in front of me, a smile on her face. "oh my god i'm so sorry!" i slur out, turning back around to vomit again. the hand returns to my back. "you're good baby." hey, chills. i flush the toilet and tuck my knees up to my chest, my eyes watering at how embarrassed i am. "this is so embarrassing." i sigh, burying my head in my hands. she laughs, "i doubt you'll even remember this tomorrow." i turn and look at her, "i think i will." i smile and she smiles back. "are you here with anyone?" "uh, yeah. madison beer. i haven't seen her tho-" "y/n!" i hear madison yell, barging into the bathroom. "oh my gosh are you okay? i've been looking everywhere for you." "i'm okay mads, just had too much to drink." she looks down to the girl next to me, "oh, hey, reneé!" she smiles. "hey, madison. i got her don't worry." "thank you." she looks at who i now know as reneé apologetically. reneé stands up and grabs my hand, hoisting me up with her. i stumble a little and she wraps her arm around my waist to support me. "is your car parked out front?" she asks. "oh, yeah. i got it." i say and try to take a few steps but fall into madison. reneé grabs me again before i fall on my ass. "it's okay i got you." she whispers. madison looks at me and raises an eyebrow, i just smile back at her.
