At Leistung, Leon Brez was sitting in his office when a Leistungian soldier came in.
Leistungian Soldier: President Brez, General Schnee is here to see you. She brought Team SCLT with her too and some other people.
Leon: Very well. Let them in.
The Leistungian soldier stepped aside to allow Winter, Penny Polendina, and Teams RWBY, JNPR, and SCLT to pass through.
Winter: President Brez, we need to talk.
After a few minutes of talking, Leon was shocked to hear about what happened.
Leon: Cinder said what?!
Winter: She looked at us and said "Free Leistung" just like what she said at the interrogation room. She left before we could detain her again.
Leon: Free Leistung. That phrase sounds all too familiar.
Zero: So you heard that phrase before?
Silvia: Unfortunately, yes. My teammates and I heard that phrase too. We all heard that before.
Ruby: My teammates and I heard about it when we were fighting insurgents back in Atlas four years before you guys got here.
Blake: Because of everything that went on, we're all quite surprised that you guys never heard that phrase before the attack on the Atlas Academy.
Weiss: But yet, you guys came from another world, so we understand.
Tiger: What exactly is this "Free Leistung" even about?
Brez: Clearly you were never told about this. As of right now, Leistung is in the middle of a civil war. We're fighting against a terrorist organization known as the Militia for the Liberation of Leistung, a militant group that is determined to achieve Leistung's full independence from Atlas.
Zero: We thought Leistung was already an independent nation.
Penny: Leistung is only partially independent from Atlas.
Zero: But why?
Winter: Over 200 years ago, Atlas noticed that Leistung was rich in dust resources. The people of Atlas wanted those dust resources for themselves, so they invaded Leistung and eventually seized total control. All that started the occupation of Leistung which lasted for over 200 years. Seven years ago, President Brez ordered the creation of the Leistung Defense Force, which is the established military force of Leistung. It was created in response to the growing support for Leistung's independence. Five years ago, shortly after Salem fell, President Brez and I signed the Treaty of Leistung. The terms of the treaty include peaceful coexistence between Leistung and Atlas and Leistung being allowed to run its own independent affairs as long as it remains a part of Atlas. Not too many Leistungians liked the terms of the treaty, so they protested against the Leistung government's decision. The protests became violent, with protesters being shot by soldiers within the Leistung Defense Force. This turned the protests into riots, which started the civil war that's happening to this day. We don't know who's leading the Liberation Militia, but whoever it is, they're likely to be just as dangerous as Remnnat's Fist. The government's of Leistung and Atlas even heard speculation that Remnant's Fist went as far as to ally with the Liberation Militia. But we only need confirmation. That is why I will need Team SCLT to check out the hideout here in the City of Leistung. To figure out what's happening. What they're next move is going to be.
Silvia: You can count on us, General Schnee.
Winter: You all will need to be quiet about it, as we don't want to draw any attention.
