2) TRAP reactions

so i just wanted to say this as a general announcement. in the franchise, anne is a boy who cross dresses but in the english sub they use they/them pronouns. i will be writing anne with they/them pronoun use, but it's okay to refer to them as a boy. (just wanted to throw that out there before someone said anything 😭).

disclaimer (only if you have not seen paradox live prior) - In the Paradox Live universe, Phantometal is a substance found within the accessories used by hip-hop and rap artists in the near future, and may also refer to the accessories themselves. It is a type of chemically reactive metal that when combined with the user's DNA, allows them to generate brilliant illusions in the environment that are linked to their emotions. They are integral to the popular phantom live movement, where artists can perform songs and create illusions on stage. Unfortunately, as a side effect, users will afterwards suffer from illusions of their past trauma. This is referred to as a trap response. It is implied that trap responses get more intense if the user has been drinking too much alcohol.

Phantometals were developed by the organization Alter Trigger, which supposedly disbanded after the side effects of phantometals were discovered. The phantom live movement began at CLUB Paradox, where the Paradox Live competition takes place. (i'm gonna put this here for the first few chapters)

i'm writing (y/n) as an ex-ballet dancer, my credentials are that ive been in pre-professional ballet training since i was a toddler. i do not specify if they are a male or female ballet dancer, it is only hinted that they are a skilled dancer. if you were wondering, shit like this happens often in the ballet industry (although i do not condone this toxic behavior, it is important that we talk about it).

It was another early morning, the sound of your alarm goes off on your phone

You run your eyes and reach a hand out to hit stop as you slightly groan a bit

Lately, everyone has been working their hardest in preparation for the opening night of paradox live — staying up late, pulling all nighters, skipping classes, and overall being a bit worn

Along with preparing for the opening night, BAE has also been going to more and more nights out at clubs and venues to get some extra practice in

You roll out of bed and feel the cool surface of the floorboards beneath you before quickly remaking your bed

  Reaching out for your phone and headphones/airpods/earbuds you connect them/plug them in and pick a playlist to listen to while you get ready

  You walk into your bathroom and begin to get ready, brushing your teeth, washing your face, combing your hair, etc

  Since the four of you had been doing more and more performances in clubs like Razzle Dazzle, you had been using more and more of your phantometal illusions, meaning more frequent trap reactions

  Almost every other day another trap reaction occurs

  It's the same thing over and over again...

  Everything starts with the sound of your ex-instructor's voice screaming in your ear. Her finger is pointed at your body as she humiliates you in front of your fellow classmates, "You need to seriously slim up, (y/n), I can see your lunch!"
