the snow was falling in soft waves, each flake swirling and dancing through the air before landing on the quiet streets.

it felt like the world had slowed down, wrapping itself in a peaceful hush as junhui and sohyun slipped out of their apartment into the cold night, their breath puffing in little clouds as they walked.

the air was cold enough to nip at their faces, but neither of them seemed to mind. they had their hands shoved deep into their coat pockets, scarves wrapped snugly around their necks, and their matching black masks covering their mouths, leaving only their eyes visible.

junhui glanced over and his gaze softening when it lingered on the other boy.

sohyun was walking beside him, his pace slower, like he was savoring the moment. he was a little shorter than junhui, and he looked even smaller with the oversized layers of his puffy jacket swallowing him whole. snowflakes clung to his dark eyelashes and to the hair peeking out from under his beanie.

his cheeks were pink from the cold, but it was like the snow gave him this soft, almost ethereal glow, and junhui couldn't help but smile a little.

"you're walking so slow," junhui teased lightly, nudging sohyun's arm gently. "are you cold?"

sohyun shook his head, his voice soft and muffled beneath the black mask covering his mouth. he glanced upward, eyes following the lazy descent of the snowflakes as they drifted down from the sky.

"nah. i'm just... enjoying it," he said quietly. "we don't get nights like this often."

and he was right. with seventeen's packed schedules and the endless whirlwind of fans, cameras, and rehearsals, it was kinda rare for them to have a moment like this — just the two of them, no distractions, no noise. just the snow, the quiet, and each other.

especially now, with junhui getting ready to leave for china in a few days to film his drama, and sohyun gearing up for the group's next tour.

junhui let his gaze linger on sohyun for a moment longer before looking back at the snowy street ahead. the weight of the words they both knew but hadn't really said yet hung between them. he felt his heart tighten, but he didn't want to think about the distance just yet.
