One september evening the weather is chilly, the skies are cloudy it seems like it might be a stormy night, It's a 2 hour drive from my current location to home. On the road my car loses control and swerves left and right until I drive off root and end up in a drainage.
30 Minutes later no car insight I decide to phone my closest hope of redemption, an old college friend of mine as if not seeing him over a decade then suddenly phoning him wasn't a surprise enough he finds me with my little car trouble.
"Goordon",
Is what I hear after a loud hoot from a car approaching my destination. Like a stranded solider in enemy clutches seeing a battalion of my men here to rescue me a feeling of happiness and relief for the fact that I won't spend my night alone in a battered car comes over me.
"I hope I didn't have you waiting to long old friend"
Trevor says as he approaches me with a warm embrace.
"Not to long, and thank you for coming to my aid"The clouds are stormy and the rain is coming down heavy wind blowing and thunder striking, the car drives straight into his drive way then his garage. the only thought on my mind was,
"Huh the rumors really are true Trouble maker Trevor became the richest out of all of us of that year's intake in college".
His house was a mansion. His garage was like no other. He had over 15 of the most expensive sports cars I've ever seen. We were greeted by two maids holding 2 White towels.
I asked him teasingly,"Trevor you sure you drove us to the right place". He laughed and said "yes of course old friend, it's been so long since we last saw each other, I moved up in the world too"
The moment I walked through the door of his house they were so many different beautiful things to look at ranging from Art, Sculptures and all the expensive things he filled it up with but the one that caught my eye the most was a Lady, with a shade of dark green eyes a sad glance but when she smiled her beauty sparked the whole room and all the eyes fall on her. I gazed upon her so attentively as she walked towards us. We made eye contact for some seconds before she looked away, approached us and Trevor introduced her to me.
How I wished he said she was his sister, but sadly she wasn't she was his daughter. His first born child he had way before I even met him in college. Trevor's current wife was about his daughter's same age and with that came a friction between the pair. This was his third marriage.
After the one daughter Trevor never had any more children. The night came and my room was quiet, a knock on the door *bump bump "You can come in it's not locked", a maid walks in and tells me it's time for dinner at the dining. I walk to the dining and I hear voices talking "you never told me about any friend named Gordon, where's he from" to the voices I listen closely as I approach the dining "His an old college friend, I haven't seen him in over a decade".
"Good evening everyone my name is Gordon" I say as I pull my chair at the table and take my sit "Evening Gordon"
In a stellar surprise I recognize Trevor's wife,
she was once a student who attended my lectures at the Copperbelt University. How time flies to see now she's married and to my old friend for that matter.
"Nice to meet you Gordon, Trevor never mentioned you to me in all the years we've been together" Claire says as we shook hands. Although already acquainted to her.I thought to myself maybe it'd be a bit unsavoury if Trevor knew of the history his wife and I shared, and so I played along.
"I've heard so much about you on the drive here with Trevor, you're all he talked about"
Trevor let's out a laugh , "C'mon now don't flatter her like that"
"Well you've already met my daughter, now let's Eat"
