Emily Collins is your typical fifteen-year-old teenager living in Manchester, England, with her insane but lovable parents. She loves to go shopping, hang out with her crazy friends, and definitely knows how to have an awesome time. Everything is going great for Emily, until one fine day, her parents, world-famous photographers, decide to ship her off to... America?!
With no friends living in Miami, her only option is to stay with her wealthy (and rather odd) Uncle Frank. Why leave your daughter with a nutty uncle she's only met twice before? The answer is so her irresponsible parents could tour the world like maniacs, take breathtaking pictures every minute of every day, and relive the life they had before having Emily.
Talk about harsh.
Now, Emily is left to experience the great American culture without the help of her parents. When this new girl walks into town looking for friends, she has one crazy roller-coaster ride ahead of her, filled with rivalries, friendships, beaches, and lots of candy. And let's not forget she has to start high school - two weeks in!
Will Emily survive this journey? Will she be able to find friends in Miami and live the hectic life she had before? Or will she become a lonely lunatic, and daydream about the amount of cats she'll have in the future to keep her company?

As I wake up Friday morning, I can feel the light that radiating through the blinds at my windows, bathing my bed. The warmth from the bed sheets are covering my head makes me fall into a deeper slumber, I just that I didn't have to get up for school today. Two weeks into high school and I'm already knackered from the amount of work that teachers give us.
With dazzling smiles on their faces, it's as if the teachers want oour head to be crammed into our textbooks twenty-four hours a day, seven days. I just wish that I could fall back into the most relaxing state ill ever be in. The sound of birds chirping comes from my balcony are acting as my favorite lullaby and I continue to snuggle my head against my fluffest pillow...
Without any warning, the door of my room quickly opens and slams again the wall with such a vigorous force that I thought the wall would break right in front of me. With a terrible fright, I fall out of my bed and land headfirst on the floor with a thud.
"Oww!" I yelp, sitting up, I crawl back into my cozy bed which I refer to as "The cloud", whilst rubbing and poking my face to make sure nothing was broken.
"Rise and shine sleepy head!" Both my parents bellow as they enter my room, I groan as their loud voices pierce my ears. I pull my pillow over my head to try and block out any future sounds that might escape their mouths. I hear a large movement of water coming from behind them. That's strange, They never bring any beverages up to my room, unless..... Oh no.
Oh no no no no no
Why can't I just have normal parents? The ones who don't have crazy adventures every once in a while or that don't turn everything they see into modern art, and drive normal car - which they have- instead of driving a unicycle to work. The ones that don't say driving a car to work would kill their 'coolness'
I grab hold of the sheets I had clung overnight to save me from turning into a frozen Popsicle. But to my dismay they pull it from my still aching body. I get the feeling that I'm not going to like what happens next. I open my eyes to see both my parents grinning mischievously and hovering over me with huge red buckets filled to the brim with what looks like water. I'm guessing it's cold.
I see both my parents ever so slowly, tilt the buckets towards me and let the water flow down in the form of a waterfall, directed towards my body, screech and curl up into a ball to take cover, wishing I'd thought to lock my bedroom door before I slept.
Why do my parents always have to do this to me? I do not understand the forms of affection towards me. I wish they would just love me how every other normal parent does, and get me as many candy as I want.
My assumptions about the temperature of the water are proven right. As I am thinking all of this, I feel the freezing water come into contact with my exposed skins. I screamed and glare at my parents for a long time. A staring contest commences between the three of us, until I finally break the silence.
"W-why d-did you guys-s do that?!" I say through my cluttering teeth. Thanks to my parents, I am shivering, my bed is wet and my pajamas are sticking to my skin. My hair feels like it is stuck to my face and water is trickling down all over my body.
At this very moment, Lucky- my little Maltese toy poodle- decides to come running into my room, jumps into my bed and starts to pick my face. Sometimes my parents are crazy but I still love them so much, and one of the reasons why I love them so much is because the let me keep lucky when she was abandoned and had no where else to go.
"Well love muffin, we have some exciting news to tell you that will knock your socks off, but you wouldn't wake up, so that was our best option." My mum winks and answers with a smile that spread wide across her face.
"But it will be better if you change first because neither of us want you to catch Hypothermia. Then when you have dried yourself and dressed, you can meet us downstairs in the kitchen and we will talk whilst eating some scrumptious breakfast, okay?" says dad with a strange look on his face
