Athena.

I sat peacefully nervous on the hogwarts express watching the scenery fly past my window. This peace was quickly interrupted by the sound of laughter and sniggering. I cast my gaze towards the door of my carriage where a group of boys stood.

The boy at the front of the group opened the door and they began to pile in, "your new" he remarked sitting opposite me. "Way to point out the obvious Blaise" another spoke. "What's your name beautiful?" A handsome boy with brown curls said sitting next to me with a half infatuated half mocking look on his face.

"Thia" I replied. Thia was the more modern sounding version of my name, another way to detach me from my past. The only person who still called me athena, the only person still alive who even knew that was my name is Enzo. I never liked when he called me by it. He knew that.

"What an unusual name, isn't that an unusual name Lorenzo?" The boy said smirking glancing over to another boy. "Definitely unusual" he said replying to his mate. His glance turned to me "very pretty name though, I'm Lorenzo, Lorenzo Berkshire."

"Well I'm Mattheo" the boy with the curls said. "That's Blaise, that's Theodore and that's Draco"he finished informing. "Now, how come I haven't seen this face before?" Mattheo asked while his friends watched stifling laughs. "It's my first day, I just transferred." I replied. "From where?" he questioned. "Iivermorny" I lied straight through my teeth.

Mattheos hand reached up to my cheek softly gliding over the shape of my face. "Well I think you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen" he said his smirk growing while his friends looked as if they were about to explode with laughter. I pulled away from his hand sharply, my face quickly changing from pleasant to disgusted. "How kind" I said fed up of him now.

"Oooh she's feisty" Theodore said earning him a laugh from the group. Mattheo looked down as if trying to hide his smile "we're just messing with you love don't worry about it. Though you are gorgeous" he finished with a wink.

"Are you pureblood" the boy with bright platinum hair named Draco suddenly interrupted. I looked inquisitively, "yes, why?" I asked. He scoughed "because we would be leaving if you weren't" he retorted.

"Don't mind him, very old fashioned" Mattheo said. "What's your last name, maybe we've heard of your family?" He continued. "It's Laurier, you won't have heard of it, French."

"Your French?" Lorenzo asked. "Half French" I answered. "Can you speak any" he asked eyeing me. "Oui courante"

They continued to ask a lot about my life leading up to this point. Everything I fed them was a lie. They ate it up regardless. As far as they knew my name was Thia, I'm 17, I want to iivermory and I moved because my parents got jobs over here. The train stopped and they all stood up so I did too. All five of them towered over me. I went to get my luggage from overhead. Blaise pushed my hands aside. "Let me" he offered. I smiled at him superficially and he pulled down my case. "Slick moves" Draco remarked. "I'm just being a gentleman" Blaise retorted. "You just want to be first in her pants" Draco laughed he eyed me up and down "I'm sure she'd let you if you ask nicely" he continued laughing. I bit my tounge and stayed silent.

We arrived at the castle. The great hall had four busy tables stretched the entire way down. All of the new first years were sorted into houses and then it was my turn. I sat on the stool feeling hundreds of eyes looking at me. the musty hat was put on my head. "Hm why are you so familiar" the hat puzzled. "Certainly clever enough for Ravenclaw, yes a very sharp mind. But I think there's a house which will suit you more, cunning, ambitious, dare I say heartless...SLITHERIN" the hat screamed out.

The slitherin table erupted into cheers and claps. I walked towards the table and took the only seat left next to mattheo and across from Draco. "Glad to have you thia" mattheo smirked. I smiled back and notice that Draco rolled his eyes.

As I lay in my dorm bed that night I felt young. In some way being more connected to that human feeling was nice, nostalgic. In another way it was terrible. It reminded me of a time I was weak.

"Athena." My step father addressed me his voice a fake sickly sweet that made me feel ill. There is no man I hate more than him. "Yes father?" I responded not being able to look him in the eyes. "Be a good girl and come and help me in the study Athena" he demanded of me. I knew what that meant. He made me dread each day. I stood up picking up with me the candle that was lit on a small china dish. We used it to light our way down the corridor to the room that made my stomach churn with anger and sickness. Stepfather grabbed at the handle swinging the door open. Closing and locking it behind him. "What did you need help with father" I asked hopefully looking for an unusual answer, realistically knowing that wouldn't be. "You should know by now my sweet girl. If you don't it's in your best interest to learn. Your innocent act I'm afraid has grown tiresome" he condescendingly said. "Please don't" I began to pled but I was cut of by the sound of his cane hitting my knees. "Knees now!" He barked. I fell to my knees and tried to suppress the tears from forming in my eyes. He unbuckled his belt slowly. I took a deep breath.
