Ferrari driver Adam Kulczyk was reportedly taken to the hospital by ambulance in the hours after his qualifying session in Barcelona. His condition is unknown. If he is unable to race, his shoes will be filled by Sauber driver Antonio Giovinazzi, and Kulczyk's current championship lead will likely be overtaken by Hamilton.

Sister of Formula One driver and Le Mans winner Adam Kulczyk has revealed that he was rushed into emergency surgery after suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage on May 8th, 2021, following a qualifying session in Spain. Due to the severity of his condition and the doubt that he would survive, Ferrari team Principal Mattia Binotto decided to withdraw Kulczyk's car from the race entirely; out of respect. The 25-year-old driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance after he collapsed during a briefing and underwent immediate endovascular coiling surgery, after which he spent a week in intensive care. His sister, Martyna, says she was warned by doctors that "he might not make it through the night" and admits that "he's still fighting for his life" following his surgery.
Leclerc Brings Updates On Teammate After Stroke

After nearly a month of radio silence since Formula One driver Adam Kulczyk suffered a stroke during a race weekend, Charles Leclerc, his Ferrari teammate and close friend, has updated the media on Kulczyk's condition. "He is home now with his family," Leclerc said in response to an inquiry from a reporter. "There is still a lot of worry, but he is awake and talking." This information is a relief to many, including fans who have been in the dark about Kulczyk's condition since the few brief words from his sister in May.
Leclerc also revealed, on a lighter note, that he has been taking care of Kulczyk's dogs for him, but that "I drew the line at petting the donkey." Kulczyk owns a farm in Italy, where he has an array of animals that Leclerc seems to have a distaste for.

For the first time since May of 2021, Adam Kulczyk has been seen in Ferrari red at a Grand Prix. Unfortunately, his presence at Bahrain is as a spectator only. As he told a reporter, he is "not able to pass the medical requirements yet," faulting low muscle tone and migraines. We can speculate that he will not be rejoining this season at all, additionally because in his car now sits Carlos Sainz Jr., who has made himself at home in Ferrari.
