It's 10 PM and Raquelle's back is against the local bar's alleyway, her heart beating out of her chest as her friend Barbie kisses her senselessly. Their friends are waiting inside, unaware of the tension between her and little Miss Perfect. Barbie usually holds off until 1 AM to avoid questions but today she threw caution to the wind. She was kissing Raquelle so hard that her knees were getting weak, she was clinging onto the blonde tighter than she'd ever before. What was once a deal to elevate stress has turned into a disastrous mess. Barbie Millicent Roberts was kissing her out of possessiveness not to relieve stress from reading scripts all day and dealing with sleazy men–no, she was kissing her out of pure unfiltered jealousy. They hid everything so well that no one noticed the shift between them but now they are bound to find out–Barbie wanted someone to find out. All because a man bought Raquelle a free drink.
Barbie's reaction had thrown Raquelle and the man off balance because Barbie didn't look like the type of girl to be bold, not to mention outright aggressive, but her self-control snapped. Barbie took the glass from the man's hands and threw the drink in his face, growling that Raquelle was hers.
Raquelle barely had time to react, Barbie had taken her arm and pulled her out of the bar breathing unevenly. Raquelle was frozen in place unsure of how to question what happened or how to approach the blonde woman in front of her and as Raquelle moved closer and looked into her eyes she saw a stare she'd never been at the receiving end of–it was determined to prove something, to make a point, she'd have those looks while reading scripts and such but never at a person–never at her. The look didn't frighten Raquelle as it should, instead, it captivated her seeing this entirely new side of the girl she was falling for. After years of never seeing Barbie break her perfect facade, it's strange to witness Barbie lose her cool and resort to violence. No matter what Raquelle had done–ruined her fashion shows, interviews, and grand openings, Barbie never lost her cool; she had a severe lack of a reaction. But when a man buys her a drink for free that's when Barbie loses it? Not because of her bullshit or someone backstabbing her but because a man took interest in her.
Why would someone with abundant suitors care if her little stress reliever was getting attention? Raquelle couldn’t understand it. There are plenty of people pleading with Barbie for attention and they only get a smile! They get nothing, Raquelle however gets Barbie to kiss her with feverish delight in a dark grimy alleyway just because Barbie wanted to. Raquelle already knows she’s lucky to be in the same room as Barbie, especially after the shit she’s pulled, but to have the privilege of being Barbie’s go-to to relieve stress? Unfathomably fortunate is all Raquelle can say.
Raquelle gently pushed Barbie back, catching her breath. “Barbie…why are you acting like this? Have you lost your mind?”
Barbie glared at her, her thumb caressing the side of her face. “Yes. Yes, I have. What's the issue? Did I not make myself clear?”
“He only got me a free drink. He didn't ask me out.” Raquelle said, leaning into Barbie's touch.
Barbie growled, shaking her head. “He was leading into it! Are you blind to how beautiful you are? Aren't you better than me in all areas including beauty? He tried to ask you out in front of me. My arm was around your waist. I indicated that you were off limits.”
Raquelle's eyes widened, Barbie had said it loudly and appeared unashamed. Barbie's lips reconnected with hers, her hands pining Raquelle's hands above her head. This time the kiss was slow, she was exploring her as if they hadn't done this a million times. Their friends are going to come outside to look for them, they are going to see them and Barbie doesn't care. The woman who kept this arrangement secret for five months decided to say fuck it over a stranger.
“The things you do to me,” Barbie whispered against her lips.
Raquelle squinted her eyes unsure where Barbie was going to take this, if they were going to keep the arrangement or become a couple, it's unclear. Raquelle could see herself being with Barbie but the issue was no one else would. She's sabotaged Barbie more times than she can count–the disapproval will be far more intense than Twitter bashing her for existing. Although Barbie publicly defends her no matter what, it only amplifies the hate train because why was someone so cruel towards her receiving love and attention? Raquelle had to agree it was ridiculous. She doesn't deserve the woman in front of her who is currently memorizing every detail on her face.
